My #2 wife is the angel from above. Both of us had 1 previous marriage. My kids and I divorced the EX, their bilogical mother. She had a little check book problem. When my boy was a Marine in the original desert storm living on $50.00 per check and depositing the rest so he would come home to a big pay day the EX used his check book to keep the account empty, with the hot checks his car payment couldn't be made and it was repossessed. I had been buying Savings Bonds for both daughters since birth so most of their college would be paid upfront. They were in each girls name and mine. The ex cashed all in up to the ones 6 months old. I found out when I learned she had cleaned out my checking account of 6K and was still writing. We booted her. The prosecutor would not do anything. Life eventually got better.
Wife #2 had a husband who would not work, they also had 3 children. One day she came home and he had a new trailer with a new golf cart on it. She asked who that belonged to and he told her to shut up and make the payments, the paper work is on the table. She kept the grocery money in a cookie jar, all of it was gone as the down payment on his golfing rig. She knew at that moment he was going. They ate Raman noodles for about 10 days, at that time they were 10 for a dollar. My kids and I had to do some Raman noodles for a while after we booted my ex while we were getting the finances fixed.
A few years later my youngest daughter was looking at the paper, she came by from school everyday and did her home work at my office. In the paper she saw the personal ads and said Dad maybe you can find a woman here. I had had "coffee only" dates with 20 or so ladies. I developed a list of things I would not accept, it all hinged on honesty. Finally I put in an ad, Single father looking to meet a hard working woman with a professional career. 400 calls later and more coffee dates, (do you know by a phone call with a 112 pound blond verified by her friend standing next to her can gain 280 pounds just driving to the coffee shop? One did), I finally gave up on this and quit. One day my daughter said try once more Dad. I listened to the voice mails, "Hi I'm A woman with a profession I arrange flowers down at the flower shop". Scratch that one. The last one was a sweet voice and it went like this, " I really hope he is nice and handsome. I wonder why he is a single father? OH, Hello, is the recording working? Ha, HA, I guess you'll think I'm an airhead but I'm not. Please call me @." Well I guess I wanted to see a lady who could error and laugh at her self, quickly gather her wits and move on. Remember I asked for hardworking in the ad. I called her house 50 times, her kids would say, shes at work. Weekends too. I did not call in the middle of the night. I sort of figured she changed her mind. I took a day off work and bagged a Turkey. I cleaned it and sat down to take a nap. The phone rang, it was the sweet voice. I had left my number but her kids lost it. One of her kids remembered where I said I worked she called the corporate office who wouldn't give out my #, she got the local office and twisted one of my techs arms until he broke down. We talked a long time and agreed to meet at a restuarant in the middle. I had taken ashower early on but the camo hat had left a ring in my hair that would not brush out, I didn;t want to be late so I wore a Cardinal base ball hat. She had long blond hair, those killer long legs and was drop dead beautiful. I actually looked around to see if she was fronting a doggy friend. Nope she was it. If you remember Farrah Fawcett in her prime you have a very close idea of her looks. She said my jaw hung for most of the date, I said her first question after finding out I have power tools was, Do you remodel? I took her Purple roses the next day, Geez I didn't know Purple was her favorite color. She loved it, we dated at every opportunity. She told me she thought loved seeing baseball hats on guys. Who would have thought hiding the camo ring would pay off. She is an RN, when we met she worked M_F 7-3 in a state hospital, she taught a couple of nursing night classes at the local JUCO RN program twice a week, she was a charge nurse at a nursing home 2 nights a week and also Sat-Sun. She also does caligifry (SP?) for weddings and anniversaries.
She fit me into her schedule. There were co-incidences, when the company moved me to the area I stayed in a large chain hotel, there were large conferences there during the day. This was an hour from her town. One day as I was going to the room I saw a drop dead beautiful blond on a pay phone crying like crazy. I almost stopped to help but after standing there for a couple of seconds I moved on.
I was living in a town on Park Street when the company asked me to take a promotion to an area that needed improvements. I went to my new Bosses office which was 2 hours from where I was going, it was on a Park Street. I found a place to live for my youngest daughter and I, it was on the corner of Park and something.
When I finally met "THE ONE" we talked like old friends, if ever there was a matched pair we might be it. When she first saw my company car she said, a couple of months ago I was at an RN training in this hotel which is where I was staying. She said I just broke up with a guy, he was a dead beat I didn't want another one but it was emotional. She said I went to my car and sat crying for a long time, when the tears cleared I noticed this car parked next to me and stared at it and the logo wondering who they are and here it is.I said I remember folks leaving that conference room all ladies, but I remembered her crying on a pay phone and wanted to help. When I picked her up for our real first date, she lived on Park Street. 4 Towns, 4 Park Streets. Oh yea, in addition to our day jobs we've remodeled homes and sold them or kept them for rentals. This is the total gut and rebuild type of remodel. She will work the average guy into the dirt. My daughters call her Mom. Her kids call me Dad. She's learned to hunt, she's bagged many deer and one huge mounted wall hanger. She likes to fish, camp out and boat too. She stole my custom pre 64 Model 70 Winchester and really likes it. A couple of years ago she mentioned it's getting heavy, I bought her a Kimber 7-08, she got the big buck that year. She also has one revolver she loves, her Bearcat. I love her more than life.
