So, I bought a Glock at Academy today . . .

Didn’t think this had a chance of being political, but thanks for going there. Reminds me that people are always looking for a reason to be unhappy . . .

Agreed. Totally uncalled to make this political. Academy is good people.

Sorry, but the SIG P365 is the same size and holds twice as much.

Sorry, but the SIG P365 is a firing pin breaking, unproven, joke of a gun rushed to market for the lemmings.

Muss has a SUPERB gun in his G42 and quite frankly, I’m PRETTY SURE he knows what he likes and needs.

I'm one of those guys who's got a couple guys with same name, close to same age, similar SSN's, who can't seem to stay out of trouble. I even got a UPIN after I got a delay four or five years ago, and it still takes a while. It's faster if I buy from my FFL that calls in by phone. Internet NICS take a while, thanks to my little friends . . .

It is. 9 times out of 10 my nics check is complete before I finish filling out the paperwork. I’ve been out the door 5 minutes after saying “I’ll take it”.

The way I read it is that, and I may be wrong (most likely), is that if you are arrested, you have to surrender your CCW licence. It really should be someone from Texas answering these questions.

I agree that you probably have to surrender your permit to Texas upon arrest, but again, to use a driving analogy, you also have to surrender your actual driver license if you are suspended or revoked. Lots of people don't, and the only way to determine true driver license status is to run them. I'm still wondering how Texas prevents what I proffered from occurring . . .

THAT'S NEWS TO ME.

Background checks usually not required if you have a CWP. Enjoy your new pistola Muggs.

Fl is pretty EZ on the gun laws & EVERY transaction (unless a private FTF sale) from an ffl gets a background check, CWL or not. Background checks have found their way into SOME gun shows, county by county, SO FAR.

My analogy is a motor vehicle insurance card, which on the face of it is valid for a six month period (at least in Missouri). If you miss a payment, you don't have insurance, but you still have an insurance card valid on its face but invalid in fact. Get stopped by the cops, waive the invalid/valid card, and go on your way. The invalid part only arises if you're in an accident and the aggrieved party comes calling. Of course, by then, it's too late . . .

Tennessee now has an "Electronic Insurance Verification System" that is supposed to be updated by the insurance carriers within days of an insurance payment being received for a given VIN. I am curious how many other states have something similar.

I believe Nebraska has something similar. I haven't had to give the clerk at the courthouse my insurance card in years when registering my vehicles.

It seems ironic that an LEO has to have a UPI number. But thankfully you have one. I can image the look on your face when you got delayed. :p

Speaking of academy...

When I was a teenager in the 70’s in Houston, academy was a family run operation.

It was actually more along the lines of a military surplus store.

I recall the tv commercial they used to run with a young kid known as “little David” ...who I assume was family.

Anyway, I used to pop in there pretty regularly.

Looking thru the closet recently, I noticed a Vietnam era 101st airborne jungle utilty jacket I had bought there.

I still have 5 or 6 one gallon military “gas” cans I had also picked up... I only recently discovered they are actually designed to hold mustard gas and to be used with an explosive as a mine.

The Glock 42 is a slick little gun. Showed some Glock love myself. Carrying a Glock 26 today. Forgot how I like that pistol. The Glock 43 gets more time IWB but will but the 26 back in rotation.
