Now, I know what you're thinking: it's clean, but just another Chevy, nothing special...

But take a look at the bottom half:

Those are factory stickers still on the frame! And you could eat off it! No rust whatsoever. In Michigan. And it's a 1999. Almost 20 years old. With 90-something thousand on it. :)

The story is it was bought at auction from the US government who used it as a test vehicle. I'm the third owner. It previously lived indoors on a dyno where air/fuel ratios, emissions and that kind of stuff was tested. The truck has never seen rain or snow. In fact, it's practically new except for the drivetrain miles.

It's a gamble buying something like this as who knows what kind of testing was really done, what they may have modified, etc. but it's so clean and is exactly what I've been looking for configuration-wise (regular cab, V8, automatic, 4x4, Z71), I had to get it. I figure it's worth the gamble at 1/4 the price it would cost to option the same truck new today. It'll be garaged this winter before I start getting into it and figuring out exactly what it is next Spring but for now I'm willing to bet it's the cleanest '99 Silverado w/ 100K on it in the country. :)

Wow. That is absolutely amazing. Most of those are in junk yards. You really found a beauty. One of the last good GM trucks. Well done! Got to look at those pics again...so cool not to see ANY rust.

I'm a mechanic in Ma so I see LOTS of nasty rotted stuff.Once a vehicle sees 10 winters here you may as well make a planter out of it.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing. Sort of a time capsule. A few more pics:

You just do not find trucks in this good shape in the Midwest.

Great find! That baby is spic-n-span clean. Enjoy it while you can. Between these beat up Michigan roads, Winter salt, and Summer calcium chloride on the dirt roads, it sure isn't gonna stay that way for long!

That's amazing. I have a '04 GMC short bed & cab that only has 84k on it and that one makes mine look like ****.

I'd be scared to drive it.

I would've gambled on that in a heartbeat. Congratulations on your acquisition!

I would love to have that particular model .I drove one as a company work truck and when I retired it had 200k plus and still ran like a sewing machine .You did good sir enjoy.
