I'm mainly talking FMJ/practice stuff. You can find personal defense stuff for nearly every caliber in my area, just have to pay insane prices. As far as practice stuff goes though, not so much.

.45 FMJ is available if you look, usually for not much more than pre-panic prices. I saw some yesterday on sale with a two box limit, the rest you could buy as much as you could carry.

.380 seems to be everywhere, unlike after 2008, at normal to slightly higher than normal 380 prices.

.40S&W, boy do I wish I had a .40 pistol, you can trip over the quantities at the places I frequent. No post election price increases and no limits on purchases to boot. Saw a guy staggering out with an armload yesterday.

FMJ and LRN .38spl is plentiful, but somewhat expensive. Heck I can even find .32ACP and 10mm.

9mm, on the other hand.:( I'm calling it Unobtanium. Supply is down, prices are up. The only places I've occasionally found it have it priced above $20/box. Elswhere, it's anywhere from $14-$17/box, but it's like striking gold if you find any to get a typical 2 box limit.

I stopped by Gander yesterday since they put their ammo out Friday mornings. The clerk told me the 150 or so people lined up outside before they opened bought all the 9mm I hoped to find.

Big Bore Rifle ammunition and components are readily available.

both walmarts i was in yesterday had one box of 9mm luger. the one had 3 boxes of .40s&w. i bought one box of the .40. i left 2 boxes for the next guy.

as far as the lgs. the one o have frequented the most has had quite a bit of everything except 22lr, but limits one box per caliber for handgun ammo. i bought 2 boxes of .40 from them last week, and i shot 2 of them. i didn't get a chance to shoot at all this week or i would have shot the third box too.

the other gun store had it's door locked the last time i stopped. i have seen other vehicles there since then though

Hey Speedyquad, it looks like we'll be seeing a lot of each other over the next several seasons!
NHLPA approves NHL realignment proposal

Now we just have to get the Jackets up to par.

Back on topic. When Cabela's opened Thursday, they were putting out pallets of ammunition. The pallets never got off the pallet jack. They were emptied before they quit moving.

I've been able to find .45 at Vance's in Columbus regularly, likely due to them limiting to 2 boxes per visit. Personally I'm happy some places are limiting, not everyone's schedule permits them to line up at stores. Price is usually between $22-25. Not exactly a smoking deal.

Meijers in Westerville occasionally has .40 and .45 WWB bulk packs at reasonable prices. They had 6 the other day, I bought 2. Figured I'd let someone else get "lucky". The clerk said they haven't had a shipment of 9 or 22lr in weeks, however

I live in a smaller area, we have a gander mountain, walmart, mc sports basically that sell ammo. We also dont have people lining up for ammo though there are people who certainly are buying it up.

Aside from .22lr, I have seen bulk packs of 9mm/.40/.45 quite regularly at gander. It definitely sells pretty quick but I have had no problem picking up a lot of bulk 9mm, the last of which was blazer brass at $99/350rd.

Walmart gets 9mm in but not in bulk that I have seen. I have not until this morning seen .22lr on the shelves of any shop. This morning I hit walmart and found 2 1000rd winchester m22 packs and a nice supply of winchester 555packs. So I bought 2,500 rounds and can now shoot my .22 again. I literally felt like I hit the lottery.

In short, if you check often enough you can replenish around here. .22lr is the hardest to get IMO here in Northern Michigan.

West subs of Chicago. No range loads for 380, 40 or 45's. When they do come in they are gone in no time. Plenty of the expensive self-defense rounds. My wife and fellow shooters keep an eye out for each other and have been fortunate enough to gather up a fair amount. Despite the scarcity I am heading to the local range this afternoon. Though I am only bringing about 550 rds of varying calibers. Been a month since my last visit and even though cheap ammo is scarce I'm not about to sit around and wait it out.

There are only 2 places in town that sell ammo....Walmart & one of the hardware stores. I check both places about once a week and haven't seen any 9's in over 2 months. Talked to the owner of the hardware store and he said he hasn't had any 9's or 22's for 2 months. He has had some 380's, 40's & 45's, but they are usually gone in a couple of weeks. Both places have shotgun shells, but a limited variety.

Most places are pretty bare around here. Some stores are getting some in, but it's gone almost instantly, word travels fast I guess. People who want/need it bad enough are paying up for it. Otherwise they're spending it up in fuel driving around all day looking for deals. Whats most available? I would say open shelf space at the moment.

There seems to be a fair ammount of .40 and .380 in my area. A little bit of .38, 45acp and 44mag. Thats about it other than rifle ammo

Just a heads up for fellow shooters in Ohio, Cabela's restocks their ammo shelves every morning ( at least they have the last two days) and from what i heard they are tomorrow as well.

I was there Thursday, Got 3 boxes of the Winchester 525 22lr pack(had two buddies with me). Was about 500th person in the door and had to fight to get to end cap where it was.

Went up today 2 hours before open and was about 10th person in door and ran back to ammo and picked up a 2,100 federal ammo can of 22lr for 99.99.

Heard an employee talking and he said they have put 10 of the ammo cans out everyday and will tomorrow for the last day. Winchester end cap was full again today and saw a few guys w/ Thunderbolt 500 brick and some w/ cci 22.

Good Luck fellow ammo hunters

Here in upstate NY all I can find is slingshots and mothballs....I've been wondering where all the moths went!

At the LGS today several "black rifles" running from $ 1500.00 to $ 2000.00. That's the good news. The bad news, no ammo for them. Also no .22 and limited .38 and .45. No 9mm or 40. I do believe our local range will be much quieter this year.

I considered driving down there early this morning, but did not. I wish I had.
Instead I went to Fin Feather Fur at Berea. I was the second person in line when the doors opened.

Not a single box of .22 LR....none....zero!

The only 9mm I saw were the Blazer stuff. They had plenty of .45 ACP, however. The Winchester White-box 230 grn FMJ 100 Rd. "value-packs" were priced at $53.00 each though.

Having plenty of .45 ACP I left it there. Dang. Gone up about ten bucks per box in only a years time! Only a couple years ago one could pick up these .45 acp value packs at Wal-Mart for $32.00 each, but I fear those days are long gone......even at Wal-Mart.

I also stopped at a couple LGS's. Again......NO .22 LR.

I'm thinking next weekend I'll drive down to Columbus to check out that new Cabelas. Maybe I'll luck out and snag a brick of .22 LR. I'm off work next Friday so I'll leave early Friday am.

Talk about a heart breaker... I got a text from a buddy at 5:21 this afternoon that said, " I'm at Wal-Mart and they have 223 ammo for $6.80 a box or $154 for 500. Do you want me to pick some up for you?"

I took the phone off the charger at 8PM and found the message.

I just now text him back and said, "what you asked me was Wal-Mart has dollar bills on sale for a quarter, do you want me to pick any of them up for you?"

He doesn't shoot 223 so I don't think he bought a single box of them.

South suburbs in Minneapolis area - Fleetfarm today the handgun ammo was pretty much gone. Zero 9mm, zero .40 cal. one box of .45, one box .38 special, 158 grain lead for $35.50. Limiting customers to 100 rounds purchased per day (if you can find it)

Pretty much everything is coming back in my area but the shops are restricting how many boxes you can buy (good thing). Prices however are still inflated.

Hard to find .22 mag, .357 and .44 magnum-seems these were the last calibers to be hoarded.

Bought .22lr,.223 and a box of .45 the other day., .40 cal never ran out. Starting to see 9mm also.

Well, if you want .460 Weatherby Magnum, 22.-250 or .220 Swift, the local gun shops may have it. Ditto really expensive .45 Colt. Some .45 ACP 230 grain ball for $25 per 50, Other than that-centerfire ammo is unobtainium. Haven't seen any 9MM other than $1 per round, 20 round per box defensive ammo.

.17HMR Rimfire is everywhere. The only .22LR showing up is CCI Velocitor Hyper Velocity for $9.99 for 50 rounds!

The stores do say they are starting to receive more ammo and some long term back orders are being filled.
