I was down at the VAMC this morning for an appointment. As
usual I looked for a gun magazine to read while waiting. I found
the May issue of Guns & Ammo. It has some good advice that I
want to share with you.

Often times someone will ask for comments and opinions of a
particular gun. Many times they have already bought the gun
they are asking about.

On page 22 there is a quote by Colonel Jeff Cooper from his
column Cooper on Handguns, May 1976:

"Whenever I am asked my opinion of a gun that a correspondent
has alredy bought, I feel obliged to tell him that it is simply
marvelous.
Asking a consultant what he thinks of a product you already
own is rather like asking a marriage counsellor what he thinks
of a girl you have already married."

Consultant: Guy you bring in so the message about how badly you screwed up doesn't have to come from within the company.

I do something like this myself. What's interesting is the number of times I get asked back by the customers who I've had to diplomatically ream.

Can't remember who said so, but the definition of a consultant is someone
who borrows your watch to tell you what time it is and then they keep
the watch.
