Just curious if anyone can give me any more info. on these pair of grips I picked up? I was told from the seller they were walnut, but thats all I "know". I would just like to know more about them and if they are just run of the mill or something worth while? Still learning! Thanks everyone! Also, only thing I can find stamped on them is the number 6 on the bottom of the one grip. They are silver washers. Thanks all!

Those are S&W N frame target stocks that date from about 1973 to the early 1980's. I believe those are goncalo alves, but they did make them in walnut.

Thanks S&Wchad. Yeah I was trying to figure out if they were goncalo alves or not. They seem lighter colored then the other goncalo alves that I have. Heck either way, I picked them up for $19.50 shipped, so I fig. I got a good deal.

You got a very good deal. They typically sell between $50-$75, more with nice grain. I have a similarly unremarkable set that came on a mid-1970’s 29-2.

I had those pegged for Walnut. The Goncalo Alves that I usually see have much more figuring, dark grain.
The other thing I've noticed, the left side is always, always more figured than the right.

Thanks Everyone. I put them beside my other goncalo alves and these are much much lighter in color. So are these goncalo alves or are they walnut? haha.

Goncalo alves can vary a lot with the heartwood having a very pronounced grain and the outer wood being pretty plain.
