Some outside the box defensive rifle options

I'm prepared to outfit a defensive squad with M1 carbines if I need to.

As the English "used" to say Bully!

Browning BLR.

Lever gun speed. Bolt gun power.

If that is too much money, find any decent 30-30 lever gun. 30-30 has it all under 100 yards.

I've a few marlins and winchesters. Marlins in 357 and 44mag, the winnie is a thirty thirty. Good reliable short rifle. The pistol calibers are fun to shoot and suprisingly accurate. Frank

A lever action 30-30. The guns and ammo are easy to find.

A 14 round tube fed Marlin Model 60 would keep the bad guys busy, too.

30-30 WInchester; Ruger Deerfield 99/44. WOuldn't mind getting a lever in .357/.44 either. Already have a Mini and a nice bolt action 30-06.

Old and slow, Quigley Sharps replica, 425 gr gas checked bullet going 1,600 fps slows down alot of things.

Backup plan: 3 ARs, semi-auto Thompson, several bolt .308 & .30-06, Ruger custom 10-22 with ten 25 round mags.

I have always preferred wood rifles to those Mattel/Lego looking things.

But I will defend to the End your right to waste your money on them...

A good lever action in .44 or .357.

i have been looking for a good 357 carbine lever and cant find one to save my life other than rossi which im not a fan of, i want a american made product and marlin is absent right now , i wish mossberg would step up and put some out in pistol calibers .

Steyr Scout in 308. Once you've handled and shot one, you won't have any interest in Ruger's scout. Occasionally you'll see one in 7mm-08

Remington Mohawk, 600 or 660 in 308 or 350 Remington magnum. These were way ahead of their time. Mount a Burris or Leupold 2.5 Scout scope.

All are great to carry and to shoot. It you can't do it with one of these, it can't be done with a rifle.

They are at the top of the price range, but will do everything.

All of these will work for a rifle HD weapon. I am certain there are others.

Marlin in 30-30, .357 mag, 44 mag
Ruger Mini-30 or Mini-14 or a camp carbine
M1 Carbine
AK-47
AR-15
AR-10

A good defensive rifle option? Here are two suggestions. One... a Ruger 10-22 w/ a 50 rd. banana clip. At distances common within a home it will be very effective. Of course the cognizant will object., not enough horsepower, etc. But, a bullet hole or several bullet holes nicely placed in a man's torso will result in deflated lungs, punctured hearts and all sorts of other not good things for a man's prospects of living long. Now, if someone really has to have power, etc. maybe for both possible and more likely short ranges stuff as well as the longer range stuff... get a M-1 Garand and stuff it full of some nice M-2 ball... or AP. There is very little in this world that a M-1 loaded with M-2 or AP will not nicely settle down... permanently.

I put a folding stock on my Mini-30 and It should do just fine. I put a 1.5-5 scope on it since I seldom shoot at more than 100 yds.

A hole is a hole is a hole...maybe but 22lr semi auto rifles tend to be very finicky, get dirty fast and jam up faster than center fire rifles.

Hmmmm Ruger 1022. can put a lot of lead on a target in a short time and won't kill all the neighbors if you miss.

Depends on whom and what you wish to defend against. I like the idea of the handgun rifle combo.

There is a cowboy shooter who has developed a kit for the Rossi lever actions that replaces the plastic parts with metal. Alia smooths it up big time.

Not a lot of lever actions still made here.
