Not really....it was in the gun store.....Went yesterday to check on additional mags for my Shield 45...(gun store needed to talk with S&W sales rep to find out when they may be available)..

Been about 3 weeks since I purchased from them and they asked me how I liked mine and said they could not get them in fast enough.

Down at the end of one of the counters was a guy with a crowd around him (ok 4 people around him). He was looking at the one Shield 45 the gun store had in stock and the other 4 were waiting for him to put it down so one of them could buy it....

Come on man, you gonna buy it or what?
Hey can I see that for a minute just want to hold it..
They say it's got a nice trigger, can I try it?
on and on for a few minutes.....

the gentleman decided not to purchase on the spot and gave it back to the salesman...next in line took out his credit card and said "it's mine..do the paperwork". The other three looked heart broken and sullen.....

I had to laugh, because the day I got mine 3 weeks ago I was the first in line at the counter but only one other gentleman there interested and he told me "if you don't buy it, I am"......

A couple years ago I was at a large LGS and as usual looking through the used revolver case.. I was not a Colt man but saw a nice looking dick special 2'' 38 surrounded by a bunch of S&Ws. Made the big mistake of saying to the owner, let me see that little Colt.

He expressed surprise as I normally ignore other brands. I did notice a man standing to one side sort of covertly watching the proceedings . Gun was real nice (90%+) and as I did a lot of business there negotiated the price down a bit and threw my credit card on the counter. After the dealer walked away to get some paper work the man quietly said to me. If you had not bought it I would have and I would have paid the price on the hang tag. You got a nice gun!

I'm still waiting for an LGS near me to get one in. I got on the lists kind of late...and, since I want a thumb safety model, that cuts my chances in half.Anyway, I'm hoping some time soon mine will come in...

I was at a gun show a few weeks ago and a guy was looking at a couple of old boxes of .460 Weatherby ammo and asked the seller how much? The seller says $40 each and the guy says, "Well, I'll think about it."

I immediately signaled to the seller and pulled out my wallet. He said, "You didn't even have to think about it, did you?" I said, "Nope!".

Granted, I already have enough .460 ammo to last a lifetime (7-8 boxes?) but I couldn't pass it up at that price. Ammo was $60 a box when I bought the gun 25 years ago, and it goes for about $125 now.

Buying MY 308 BLR - back up buyer standing by ...

Sitting on my 'donkey" behind my table at a recent gun show.

Fellow stops with a 308 BLR with a nice scope.

During negotiation a second fellow stop and looks interested.

"Seller" finally settles at $600.

I tell him that it is a FAIR price.
Turn to the fellow standing by and tell him that if he wants it to buy it.
He told me that I was dealing first.
Three times I told him that if he wanted it to buy it.

After I bought it I turned around and stood it against the wall.

Second fellow then offered me $625 - mentioning that it was a quick $25 profit.

Sorry, I told you to buy it if you wanted it.
I KNEW that if I bought it I would be keeping it.
I LIKE these BLRs.

Hot Damn the world is full of tire kickers, who got nothing better to do than hold everyone else up. The old saw really fits here. Money talks and Poop walks. It's up to the sales staff to figure out who is a tire kicker and who is a buyer; not always easy but it has to happen.

Been on both sides of this. Once I hit an LGS and like always went to the used gun section. A guy was looking at a K-22, and looking and looking. He sat it down and asked to see something else. I asked if he was going to buy it, he said I don't think so, I picked it up and went straight to the cash register.

Then I've watch someone fondle something I wanted and sit it down, pick it up and just when I think they are going to move on they say I'll take it. It hate it when someone toys with my emotions.

That whole story is hilarious. Now, I understand the timing of it coinciding with political uncertainty but I've never been so hard up for a gun that I'd crowd around a perspective buyer waiting to grab it at a moment's notice.

I had an old WWI 1917 Remington Enfield at a military show one morning.
First guy picked it up and looked at it, then handed it to his friend. His friend looked at it and asked how much I wanted for it. Second guy pulls out his money and buys it while the first guy is waiting to get it back so he can buy it!
Not sure they had a friendly lunch after that...

Yeah this sort of thing will be happening more methinks! I've done the vulture on a branch thing myself, I watched a fellow trading a Nickel 25-5 and waited till the transaction was done. Then I swooped in and snatched it up. Hey, ya don't see nickeled 25-5's every day!

That's how I got my 629-2 3". My LGS had put out an email to their regulars that certain used guns were available, with prices. I was the first guy at the door when they opened, and while I was looking at it another guy asked a different counter person if it was still available. Pointed at me, and asked if I was going to get it because if I wasn't he would. It was $699 so the chances of him getting his hands on it were slim and none.

Somewhat related.
At a flee market once a woman was pouring over a bunch of junky jewelry. Sign above it said $.25 each. The seller says to the woman "if you do it right now I'll give you 3 for a dollar. She snatched up 3, gave the guy a dollar and took off happy. I must have had my mouth open because he smiled at me and said "you wouldn't believe how often that works. It takes all kinds of folks to fill the freeways.

Now that's funny. :D:D:D

I was in another lgs today and Gander Mountain looking for HST 45 ammo.

Neither store had the SHield 45 or the. HST
...so I guess if you wants it bad enough you best be speaking up...

I would be doing the same thing if the HST had been avail.....

I guess the closest I came was a guy selling a Eastern European semi auto marksman rifle with 12 mags for $800. I bought it. The guy behind me started laughing...he said if I didn't he was all ready to grab it and buy

For $125/box I want the box autographed by Mac Bolan his own self... ;)

At the last gun show my brother and I attended, we walked down to the first aisle and a regular vendor was still putting stuff in his display case when I saw it. Ignoring it, I commented approvingly on a nickel plated Model 19 snub-nose and pulled out my nickel 1982 Model 37. The vendor made approving noises and asked price numbers. I mentioned a number; he said I could probably get that for it. I mentioned trade, and his eyes lit up. I l looked at some other guns then asked about "it." He handed it over and while I was examining it allowed that it was his partner's and said partner wasn't there yet. (We are 10 minutes into the gun show from doors open.) I mentioned that I was interested in a straight trade, and he dialed his cell phone. He gave an honest description and assessment of my Model 37 and, when he hung up, he said his partner liked shiny guns. I left the little gun with him and walked off with a shooter grade finish 1963 vintage 2 inch Model 12-2 with grips serialed to the gun. My brother was stunned. "We just got here!" he said. I just couldn't take the chance that it wouldn't be there later. I couldn't see the sights on the Model 37 and had gotten it in a straight trade for a well-used KelTec P32. Yeah, I had less than $200 in the Model 37 and walked out with one of my grail guns.

I done it myself. Number of years ago, a 27-2 3 1/2" was at a table. Seller had shotguns. That was the only revolver he had. Said it was a friends, who wanted it sold. Asking 600. I looked at it and another old character said to me " didn't you ask about a .41 magnum? There's one right over there." I went, it was 900 bucks, like new in a presentation box... I bought that 57 no dash, but not before seeing my "birddog" hand 6 to the shotgun seller.
I still wished I'd bought the 27.....

I had been looking for a spare Winchester model 70 "marksman" stock for a model 54 winchester which was the bolt action made and developed prior to the debut of the model 70 as we know it. I asked the dealer how much and he said $50 I said ok. So he calls his friend who actually owned the stock. His friend said OK on the $50. Guy standing by me says if you didn't get it I would have at that price. I had been looking for one of these stocks for years. Frank
