Went to a local pawn shop this afternoon looking for an orbital sander, they didn't have any at this time....Next went to look at the handgun display and found a S&W 457 with 4 magazines in very good condition, no box though....bought it for $275.00!!

Helps that the owner is a personal friend.....but none the less.....seemed like a smoking deal to me!

Waiting for the pics to see the smoke rising from that gun. I have yet to see a gun worth buying at a pawn shop around here. Most are way over priced and beat up worn bad to boot.

That was a smoking deal!! Congrats my friend!! Regards 18DAI

I love pawn shops. My best deals have been found there. It is a little like Diamond mining, You have to dig through a lot of coal to find the diamond.

Yes, my sentiments exactly. I've found several really good deals and at least one super deal at pawn shops. But as Model52guy said, it does take a bit of digging.

smok'n deal is an understatement ;)...I keep pokn' my head in pawn shops around here looking for that elusive M457 with no luck....that's where I found my 4506-1 and have been hoping lightning strikes twice....I did find one about a year ago but at $525 I took a pass

Man, everybody is scoring big lately... everybody, that is, except poor old TTSH. :( What am I doing wrong? We don't have pawn shops in MA that sell guns (it's forbidden by moonbat law), but they do down in Little Rhody... however, I've never been able to score anything in pawn shops down there. :o

Did my "southern loop" of gun shops yesterday and came up worse than dry. Not only did I not find anything even remotely worthwhile, but all of my previous finds and possibilities were gone too... ... all of them sold out.

If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. :p

Congratulations, growr. You've bought an excellent gun at a fantastic price.

This site is not good for my normally optimistic disposition. You see, I live in the sh!#hole state of CA, a totalitarian, commie occupied and controlled province on the West Coast of the USA. It's easier to buy dope here than to buy a gun, which is a Second Amendment RIGHT. There is no constitutional right to buy dope. When I read about the very fortunate growr who was able to jump on a great deal, I became envious with simultaneous despair. We have to prove that we're not criminals to buy a box of ammo, yet a doper can walk into a recreational dope store and walk out with a motivation-destroying drug. The America in which I grew up is long gone.

I'm not a gun collector. I do enjoy target shooting. I love to hunt the Rockies. If I were to draw a once-in-a-lifetime tag and two days before leaving my rifles were stolen, I'd have to wait 10 to take possession of a new rifle. Do I live in a state of the USA or a satellite territory of the New World Order?

I do live in a very conservative city. Believe me, there are not many authentic conservatives left in CA. As soon as my kids are out of college, I'm outta here. While I'm here, I'm under rule of a totalitarian regime that has accorded equal, maybe superior, rights to illegal aliens while native born Americans foot bills for their largess.

Sorry for the rant, and growr, you've done exceptionally well. I'm merely venting frustration arising from my status as a ruled person of the lowest caste in this state. And it's BK. Illegal aliens don't pay taxes, yet they avail themselves to governmental largess that's paid by workers who produce value.

OK....OK......yes, a tremendous deal.....you did good. However I really need to thank you for the best "tip o the day" and I can't wait for the local pawn shops to open this morning.

I don't need an orbital sander at all......but WOW...just picture it! "Honey....I'm just running down to Joes Pawn (or Tom/Dick Harry place) to look for an orbital sander to finish that project YOU have wanted completed for months (or years if the case is like my place)"

What is an "orbital sander" you ask? Well they are shaped something like those handguns that I spend so little time with...

Sorry for the thread drift, but if I am not active later today, then it probably did not work out as well for me.:D

TTSH Don't give up on your luck as when you least expect something good to happen to you, it will fall right into your lap. "Never Give Up"
