I have a Heavy Frame Target .22 LR manufactured in 1930. In need of a "main spring" aka "strain" screw. Any info on sourcing one would be GREATLY appreciated. This revolver was my Grandfather's purchased new back in the day, and I really want to make it whole again! Thanks

Are they different from bigger frames?
According to this S&W screw chart, the I, K and N frame screws are all the same: .153" by 32 tpi

When looking for older parts I always start with Numrich Arms ... also known as Gun Parts Corp . check out their site at

I agree with Gary on Numrich. However, if you want something quick, many hardware stores have a cabinet of "gun screws." I've seen them in Ace and True Value. A 5-32 or 6-32 machine screw are similar in size and might work. Perhaps your local Ohio store might let you try to fit one?
I just bought one from Wolff Gunsprings. One those "Hey I might need one of those someday" impulse buys while purchasing something else.
