Want a hysterical laugh, grab a beer, settle in and watch the "sovereign citizens" arrest on YouTube?
They believe...
They don't have to register their vehicles because it's personal property and taxes are unlawful, they have home made tags that read personal property.
They're not driving their vehicle, they're transporting their personal property.
They don't need insurance, registration or a license because those are unlawful demands.
Needless to say, it never ends well for them in a tragic stop, but the laughter that ensues is priceless!
All I know, someone's getting rich selling these "sovereign kits" to these morons. :ROFLMAO:

When I started practicing law in 1992 we had a ton of Posse Commititus members around. They would claim no court jurisdiction because the gold fringe on the US flag in the courtroom made it an admiralty court among other bizzare claims. They have morphed into the sovereign citizens now.
Yep, when you go to court and see the gold fringe on the flag it's maritime law for sure. You'll beat the judge every time on that one.

Tough to fight city hall. Especially if you’re not too bright. 😏

I feel a bit sorry for the cops who have to waste their time dealing with them.
years ago, we came in contact with one of these nitwits. Much to their chagrin, when we went to arraign them, our local on-call city judge was sick, so we had to go to a local township justice, who was an old-time farmer. At 3 am, such arraignments were done at the JP's kitchen table. Well, this half-wit tried this crap with this "JP", going so far as standing up and approaching the judge screaming and spitting. That looney-tune immediately caught a backhand from the JP which floor planted them. The JP instructed that "thing" to remain on the floor while he finished the arraignment. When the initial arraignment was done, the JP found the subject in contempt of court and gave them 60 days on the spot in county jail. We had a great appreciation for our local JP's.....

Yep, for a while our area was infested with these maroons. The best thing you could do was not participate in their charade.
Most quickly identified themselves when we approached because the first words out of their mouths were that they didn't recognize our authority over them. They only recognized the County Sheriff. That was always good for a minute or two of laughs.
Failure to produce a drivers license or provide enough information so we could verify identity and license status, lead to, "you are under arrest, please step out of the vehicle and assume the position". Vehicle not registered, no problem, "Post 29, send me the next available wrecker on the rotation".
Our municipal court judges were always given a heads up before the suspects appearance for arraignment and kept them on a short leash and were quick with the gravel for commitment to county jail for contempt if they tried any of their shenanigans.
By the time I retired, most had left the area or were only "sovereign citizens" on meeting nights.

Note, we also had a couple pockets of some real hard core Posse Comitatus guys in the surrounding rural areas and they required more care when dealing with them. They were usually ex-cons (prison tattoos were red flags), they put out a much different energy about them that made the hairs on the back of your neck start to itch and they could be violent at the drop of a hat. The surrounding posts were pretty good at sharing the names of those folks with the other posts so if you heard one of the names come across the radio on a stop, if available, another unit usually headed that way.

Any one have the phone number where I can buy me one of them "sovereign kits"
However, I suspect, I won't be the first in my area.

I've known and dealt with "sovereign citizen" and "survivalist (playing soldier with real firearms)" types many times over the years. They talk trash about how the government has no authority over them whatsoever and they keep talking that all the way into the backseat of a patrol car for incidents that would've just probably gotten them off with a warning.

The survivalist types so common in the 80's were different, but similar in many ways. Suffice to say if they went up against real, professional military units they wouldn't last very long.

While the survivalist type have morphed and often into serious threats I find the sovereign citizen types...at least the ones I've dealt with...were little more than mouths who lack comprehension in certain subjects and venues and usually got put in the clink and not understand why.

In terms of actions, character, and psychological defect, how much of an overlap among this group, the large group of women who act as though they are one of a deity, and members of ANTIFA?

I’ve seen a few of those videos. These lowlifes really take up a lot of law-enforcement time.
Saw one get stopped in maybe Kansas, he wanted to know if they were operating under maritime law.

I’ve represented a couple of them in court, by appointment. Got along with one. The other sued me and the judge alleging that I conspired with the judge to kill him. I had to pay my malpractice carrier deductible to defend me in federal court. It was dismissed for lack of proper service.

Had one sue me and my wife for $20 million in Federal court because I searched his house with a search warrant, seized stolen property, then arrested him with another warrant. He and his social group of far-right whackos were quite downcast when the Court dismissed the complaint with a smirk and an eye roll.

When I was working I used to see these characters claiming their real property couldn't be foreclosed. The fact that the foreclosed lien was created by them with their own hand on the pen didn't seem to register with them.

Over 25 years ago a biker guy at work was looking into it. He showed me a sort of manifesto he had been given. I looked at it and said, "Look, Terry, I know I haven't lived here very long, but I don't think going down that road can end well." He totally stunned me with his reply. "Yeah, I asked because you come from outside the US. You're kinda a step back, maybe with a better view."

I hope I helped.

Add to that "informa pauperis", which means the court waives the filing fee and we pay for it because they are "paupers".
I assume they say they are paupers because to admit to using real money would be an admission that the government has a legitimate business issuing currency. That's something they don't want to do.

No, they are "paupers" because they have moved just enough money in their prison trust fund account, OUT of their account prior to 90 days of the court filing....You can't just claim that pauper status without having a notarized statement of that account status.

I was a Notary Public for 11 years in Tennessee and I am a current Notary in Florida.

"The sovereign citizen movement is a decentralized anti-government movement whose adherents believe they are not subject to any government statutes, taxes, or court jurisdiction unless they personally consent to them. The FBI classifies "sovereign citizen extremists" as a domestic terrorist threat, primarily due to their history of violent confrontations with law enforcement and "paper terrorism"."

LOL ...Domestic terrorist and "Paper terrorism" is kind of funny. Sounds like some rag tag group of terrorist potheads blowing spitballs

If I ever start my own nation, I'm going to call it Nota. This way when people ask where my citizens are from they can say "the Nota Republic".

Best,
