“Special Order” section of label question

So, I’ve been led to believe that this section of the label has four numbers. The first of four is for the year with the remaining three numbers corresponding to Jillian date numbers. So far, so good?

So what happens when the last three of four numbers goes beyond 365? Like say to 763?

I’ve always operated as if that’s how it works. Then that happens. What am I missing?

That happens sometimes. In that case the number probably really is a "Special Order" identifier. And it is Julian date.

And the Julian Date can run as high as 366 if the year was a "Leap Year".
