Presently I have ATT for my internet and phone service. The connection speed is OK except there are increasing times when speed is way down.I have been looking at Spectrum in Birmingham AL for both internet and phone and as far as I can see I can get faster net speeds and phone service cheaper than ATT.
Who can tell me something factual about Spectrum service either good or bad?

Spectrum is my provider due to a Time Warner buy-out or merger? I was happy with TWC and have no complaints with Spectrum. I have tv w hbo, starz & showtime, 300 Mbps internet and phone bundled and the monthly bill is too much at $187 but it keeps mama happy.

We were on ATT at work. When Spectrum came in the speed went way up and the down time has been nonexistent. Their online interface is a bit quirky, but it is a brand new set-up, so I expect some minor bugs here and there.

Spectrum used to be Charter. internet connects at 30 mps and is $60 a month. I don't have a landline and just used a cell phone. I have been using this for about 7 years. once in a while it gets a little quirky but for the most part it is pretty good.

I should add that my total bill is $140 a month with cable TV. ATT has offers around here but the internet speed is a lot slower. the only other options are direct tv and the dish network and I really don't consider them as options. that leaves Spectrum as the only real option

Don't bother with landline phone anymore. Internet is $44. These are internet speed test results.

The Spectrum salesman "just happened" to drop by today! I am pretty sure we are going to drop ATT and go with these folks,at least for a year or so.

As long as they're eager, you could as for them to waive the install fee.

Spectrum's customer service/tech support is on a par with TWC's...that is to say, subpar. Never having used AT&T, I have no idea how those two might compare.

When/if you ever call them, once you work your way through their automated menu with its robotic generic female voice, you have no reasonable hope of speaking with anyone in the continental United States. Resign yourself to a high level of frustration (drinking helps). You'll probably say "Huh?" a lot. If you ask them to repeat something, you won't understand it any better the second time around.

Note: This is my experience with them. Your experience may differ. If you can save money with them, more power to you.

I call them only as a last resort.

I have basic cable and 100Mbs Internet from Spectrum for $60/mo.

T-mobile is our cell service provider for 4 Google phones

I have no complaints about the Spectrum service or their customer service.I get to speak with a English speaking rep that's easy to understand after about 3 clicks and a short wait.

I use my own cable modem with a Netgear 1900AC router attached for fast downloads and use Hotspot Shield Elite to remain anonymous on the Internet and cell

Had ATT before TWC/Spectrum and dumped them after a year of slow Internet and high monthly bills.

Where's ala carte cable TV?

I am meeting with them this Friday,we will see.Compared to ATT they can save me some money, that would be a big help.

Spectrum is the best option out there, but you need to watch the rates when they took over Time Warner my bill increased as included services were now options one phone call and they adjusted my rates to a level I was happy with.
For telephone we have a Verizon line which is less expensive than cable phone the only down side to either or not having a land line is if power is off so is the phone.

Just remember that they usually start you off with a promotional rate that raises after the promotion period - usually 12-24 months. Spectrum, at least here, has no contract so it is month to month service. I started out with Internet Only for $39.99. Now that the promo period is over, I pay $64.99 for Internet Only. Sure I can bundle additional services but I have over-the-air TV (with Amazon Prime and Netflix) and I kept my landline but moved it to MagicJack for $60 for 5 years ($20/year). As info, I've had my land number for many years so I felt MagicJack was a good way to keep my number. It has worked fine for me with the Spectrum internet. It also has a "soft phone" app for Apple and Android that allows you to make calls as if you were home from anywhere you have internet access. I've used it from international points and this feature alone is worth $20/year to me.

We've had Charter/Spectrum forever, like 25 years, after Charter bought Falcon, the original provider here in the bootheel. Currently have phone, cable and internet. Service is good, repairs are quick. Based on what I've read on this forum over the years, I might have the highest cable/phone/internet bill of all the members. My son and I like live sports of all kinds, and my wife likes movies, and I'm willing and fortunately very able to pay for it. We pay for every channel Charter offers to the English speaking world, four DVR's, two more non-DVR boxes, Charter's modem and wifi router, and phone. We use Charter email addresses through Charter's website, and the email is pretty flawless. If I don't notice anything special about it, must be good. I don't like dealing with five or six things, including some user installed stuff, when something breaks. I'm capable of doing it, but I just don't want to. One phone or visit to local office gets the ball rolling when I need help. About every two years, I call and threaten to go to Dish or Direct, and I get my bill down to about $180 a month. It creeps back up to $250, and then we start all over. Their phone system is maddening (like any other national provider of anything), but the local people are pretty good. Like I've said about a lot of other things, small town, small county, pretty much everybody knows everybody . . .

we have charter/spectrum here; no complaints about the internet (i work from home and am on well more than 8 hrs per day lol). It is faster than the dsl options in our community and to be honest except for the 6 yrs we lived in SC (had TWC there which was similar in options to Charter) its been Charter only for us since the 80's.

And yes as noted already, they too will give you a nice intro package that while you dont have a "contract" the rates will go up in 12-24 months. So watch your billing and keep track so you can contact them to renegotiate the new price plan.

I really am appreciative of all the comments! I can do without ATT as the service keeps getting worse especially since we are out in the sticks and the cost keeps going up.I have been quoted a price already and even if they do raise it some it will still be cheaper than ATT and right now every dime counts!
