I'm looking for a speedloader for my 617 6 shot.
The HKS speedloaders look good but wich one must I take? The 22-J (also K frame) or the 22-K (for 17) ? Is the drum of the 17 the same as the one from the 617?

A 6-shot 617 is just a 17 made in stainless. However, there is also a 10-shot version.

DS-10 Speed loaders are Great.. Also invest in a loading Block, you will be glad you did.

I ordered via phone - his e-mail was messed up, you might want to try the same.

The labeling on the HKS package is confusing. I picked up the 22-j(only version they had in the shop)and it seems to work fine with my 617 six shot.

Just last week I picked up a couple of HKS 22K's off of ebay, they were around $8 a piece.Take a look there, I also have a HKS 22J it works just fine in my Model 17, I think ideally one would want the HKS 22K, I believe that is the correct one for that model, the 22J is a little smaller in diameter than the actual cylinder and works just fine, I had that one laying around so I gave it a try. Hope that helps.

Rudy, the difference is the 22K holes on the speed loader line up exactly with that of the cylinder of the pistol, where as the 22J holes in the speed loader is that of a slightly smaller diameter and do not line up exactly with the cylinder holes of the pistol, although they are close enough to function, ideally as I see it(at least with my Mod 17) the 22K is the proper speed loader. Hope that makes sense.
