We use our Discover card for as many purchases as we can. That way we can build up our cash back bonus then use it for an Omaha Steaks gift card so we can order meat.
I went to order a gift card today and told the young lady that I wanted an Omaha Steaks gift card.
She asks, "how do you spell that?"
I ask, "spell what?"
She replies, "Omaha."
I reply, "transfer me to somebody else."
Luckily, the next person was literate enough to spell "Omaha."

I go to our local Randalls and look for the half off steaks when they have been sitting for more than a few days. I can usually get a really nice 1lb ribeye or strip steak for $6 or $7. The way I look at it, aged beef is better, and cheaper. Cook them up on the Old Smokie and they are as good as any Omaha steak I have had.

About a year ago I almost got run off the road by an obviously impaired driver behind the wheel of a large truck. I get behind the guy and call 911. The operator, who sounds like he's about 20 years old, asks me to describe the truck. I tell him it's a large stake truck. He says, "Omaha Steaks?" I'm guessing the kid didn't know how to change a flat, either.

We received Omaha steaks as a gift several times.
I thought they were way over rated and priced.

I always figured their target market was more large cities in the east/southeast U.S where quality beef was harder to come by.

If you live on the plains or in the western U.S. where there's a ready supply of corn feed beef, not such a big deal.

LOL
Cash back bonus on a CC.

Spend $1000.00
We will give you back $10.00
HTH see's that as a bonus.

Its a money making gimmick for the CC companies.

That $100 OMAHA gift card only cost you 10k what a DEAL.

Pay off and close CC and buy the things you need want CASH.

Oh please. Ease up on the "...doing it Dave's way..." spiel.

I use a CC regularly, purchasing fuel and maintenance items I would buy anyway. I pay it off every month, actually twice a month.

It's MUCH more convenient than carrying thousands of dollars of cash (Standing at a diesel pump with a Class 8 truck takes a bit of intestinal fortitude).

What's the difference if I pay with a check from my desk ?

The points are merely a bonus. I use them for gift cards that I either give away as gifts, or use for gun stuff.

Snubby, enjoy those steaks!... I used to have an air miles credit card and you had to argue to use those points on the flight you wanted. These days, I don't travel much so I have a LL Bean credit card. I pay it off each month (no interest that way) and I get free LL Bean camping gear, clothes and shoes that don't cost me a thing... I'd have to buy the items charged on the credit card anyway (gas, veterinary bills, etc) and I fill in my wardrobe a few times a year, free... Great backpacks for the grandkids this time of year-always, quality stuff. It's all good as long as you don't overspend on the CC and pay your complete bill on time.
