Hi guys, just joined the forum.
I have been reading a lot about the 15-22 before I go buy one. A dumb question. I see a lot of mentions about "blue spring" . Which spring are we talking about ? The mag spring for instance?

The Hammer spring and the Recoil rod spring.

Thanks Brett, I was wondering the same thing! AND, I saw your vid on u tube on the out of battery discharge...very interesting...thanks for the info on that! And hope you are feeling better! I had that same kind of cold, I am just getting over it.

Thanks for the info Brett.
I am just wondering if my local dealer is going to let me field strip his in stock rifles.:D

Trail,

I'd think they would, all you have to do is pop out the rear takedown pin and pivot the upper away from the lower and you can see the hammer spring.

Led,

Still got the cold! I swear I must have sneezed 80 times on Wednesday! Ugggg...

The Out Of Battery thing took me by surprise as you could probably tell in the video. I'm not real concerned since I am the only one who shoots my rifle, but I do think Smith needs to address this.

Thanks for the info Brett.

Thanks for all the feed back guys. I think I willl have to drive up to town this evening and exercise my bill fold.

You won't be sorry.... one word of caution though:

After my GF put a couple hundred rounds through *MY* 15-22, she turned back to me, grinned and said "this is an awesome gun!... thanks! Now you're gonna hafta get one for yourself!"

easy come, easy go I guess :)

Don't know if it was a blessing or not,but time I drove to town the store was closed. Seems it was an open range day some place and they hauled a bunch of stock guns for people to try.At least I got to pick up some bulk .22 at WW.

My gun went to S&W for repairs about 1 month ago but came back with the silver springs. Anyone know where I can get a set of the updated springs?

This has been posted several times with no citation. Who says? :)

Me, I've had them both in my hands at the same time but if it makes you feel better to believe that they r exactly the same only painted then enjoy :D

OK, so it's still undocumented. My Mom could get away with "because I said so" but... ;)

Got a trigger pull gauge? May be able to measure with it.

Chuck I've got a pull guage but I really don't care enough to ask my friend to bring over his new rifle so I can test his springs cause it doesn't matter...it won't change anything all people need to know is the a lighter hammer spring seams to help... I've had a reduced weight hammer spring in my gun and its been there since day 1 as a bent stock spring and now as a j&p kit.. after last weekend I'm at over 15000 rds on a first gen gun... so I must have done something right...zero returns zero issuse

15k? You zoomed right past me.... :(

DTH with a little over 14k. No issues either. With my gunsmithing skills I also did the right thing (I left it alone) :o
