A number of states have laws which protect a citizen who tries to assist a person who is in a medical crisis. For instance, if a person is not breathing and you attempt CPR, you are held harmless from civil suit. Are there any states which provide the same protection for those who use a firearm for their protection or protection of others? As an example, if you point a gun at a man who is beating a woman in public, does the state protect you from civil suit..assuming you're carrying legally and not charged with a criminal act? Seems to me that the two "acts" are similar, thus a "good" thing for society's welfare.

That depends on if your state has a "defense of others" clause in its lethal force law, whether your state is flush with election-seeking prosecuter, whether your state . . .

Get the picture? In Fl you can use deadly for in defense of others, but you run the same legal and civil risks as if defending yourself.
