Storage Problem - Bullets

I'm still buying stuff. Heck I just bought another Spolar shotshell loader. I bought 3 of the 6 foot cabinets with the butcher block tops with drawers that you can roll around or lock in place. I have put most of my presses on stands like the Dillon.

My main reloading press and powder measure on on a small heavy wheeled stand. Very convenient for smaller spaces, and using while on a comfortable wheeled/adjustable office chair.

My reloaded ammo is stored in 50 cal cans and then placed in a lockable large plastic bin. The bin is sitting on a simple cart I built out of 2x4’s on wheels. I can roll the whole bin out of there and right out the garage if I ever needed to, all in one fell swoop.

My reloading components are in a metal Lowe’s lockable cabinet under my reloading bench. Also in the garage.

One of these has served Me well for over 20 years I added a couple more 2x4 Braces Top is 2 pieces of 3/4" Plywood Lower Shelf is a single piece of 3/4" Plywood

Those work great and that's a nice little project. The only problem is that it gets a bit expensive if you have to buy all that lumber. Where I am, lumber is like primers when it comes to inflated costs.

Most of my bullets, or should I say pre bullets, sit out on the garage floor in the form of either lead bars or in buckets of scrap.
I cast 200 or so at a sitting and those go into an old wood apothecary cabinet in my reloading room. So, along with store bought jacketed bullets, I have a couple thousand on hand at most., in 18 different calibers.

I have about 100 pounds of lead from muffin molds and a little over 300 pounds of old sailing boat ballast that need to melted and poured into muffin molds. This is in my garage also. When I cast I cast for several hours with a six gang mold, usually doing several different weights and calibers. I have a bit over 500 pounds of cast bullets in my loading room. Storing them more efficiently was why I started this thread.

AJ, send all the bullets to me buddy and I’ll store them for you. Some may disappear with time but what the heck, I won’t charge you to keep them here. Larry

Larry,

I have a better idea......You come down here and we will load them all up and shoot them. Bring the Mid Range!!

I use what our military uses, who stores more ammo than the military?
simple answer use the metal ammo boxes.
I use repack ammo boxes (REPACKBOX - Ammunition Packaging Supplies and Other Cool Stuff...) repack boxes go into metal ammo boxes 1600 rounds of 9mm fit in the ammo box.
the only concern is weight

Weight . . . yep! That's why I settled on 50 cal cans for bullets. I can stack them and move them. 30 cal cans don't hold enough. Fat 50's weigh too much when filled with bullets. I do use some 40 mm and 20 mm cans for cast bullets and loaded cartridges, but they aren't getting stacked or moving anywhere.

I am not looking to store complete rounds. In the first picture of this thread the stand is a wrought iron plant stand with 1" X 6" wood on the shelves for added support. What is on that stand are bullets(slugs) and the weight is in the excess of about 400 lbs. Not much room left in the room that I store my guns/reloading stuff/collectables in, so was looking for something small, but sturdy.

Ammo cans I use for cleaned brass. Loaded ammo goes on an oak book shelf that I made out of 5/4" oak that I had on hand.
