That ain't all that's happening. I'm off tonight but have been listening to my S.O. radio. All the deputies are backed up on domestic calls including THE ONE ACROSS THE ROAD FROM MY HOUSE! They've been fussing and fighting, mostly verbal, for over an hour. I try and stay away from that stuff when I'm off but I knew the deputy was not going to get here for awhile so I got Jr. to call and tell him to leave until she left. He did and came back after her ex-husband came and got her. It's quiet again. The point I'm making here is that we seem to have more "crazy" calls when the moon is brighter. Anybody got any science on this? Back to the OP. It is a bright pretty moon isn't it?

I don't have facts to support a full moon having strange effects on people, but having done rotating shifts for almost 30 years I would tend to believe there is some basis to that. Car accidents, fires, police chases and what have you. Frank

The lupe garou (werewolves) in bayou country were out in strength last night -- many are seen near bars just off the university campus for Ladies Night -- one was run over on a rural road (he was lying down on the road -- getting a moontan, I guess) -- I do think that for some reason, there are people who act goofy during full moons.

It was pretty cool to see, and all I have to say is thank God I don't work nights at the hospital anymore...People get all kinds of crazy with a full moon, I can only imagine a super moon.

The moon affects tides, and much of the human body is water. That probably accounts in some degree for weird behavior when the moon is full and closer.

The moon is actually larger when overhead than when it comes up on the horizon. It's an illusion created in the brain. There is a lot of ongoing debate among scientists and astronomers as to why that is.
Next full moon, take a dime out of ypour pocket and hold it at arms lenght next to a full moon on the horizon. The moon suddenly gets tiny.

The size of the average moon can never be larger when its overhead than it is when its near our horizon and its not an illusion created in the brain. The moon "appears" larger to the human eye on the horizon because of the dirt and dust in the earth's atmosphere - you're actually looking through more of the earth's atmosphere at horizon level than you are when gazing straight up at the zenith. That is a unargued and crystal clear fact in the world of astronomy.
The reason this particular full moon is termed a "super moon" is becasue its the biggest and brightest full moon of this year. At about 2330 hours, the moon will be about 221,802 miles from Earth which is about 15,300 miles closer than the average distance. Because of this "closer pass", it will appear 14% larger than normal but the slight difference cannot be detected with the naked eye.

Yes, there's a beautiful moon out tonight. Speaking of moon, I wish I had a moon pie right about now… and a RC cola.
I wasn't aware of the super moon thing. I was driving in the country, Saturday evening, traveling south. I came to a crossroads where I turned eastward and WOW! That moon hit my eye like a pig pizza pie! It was just over the tree tops and brilliant! I will never forget it either.

I found that the super moon looked remarkably similar to 100% cloud cover...
