Support your local gun store...

I buy where I get the best price. if that is my local gunshop, great. If not, they don't get the business. Seriously, unless you're a wealthy guy, do you really have the luxury to spend MORE of your hard earned money just because it makes you feel good? Some of them, I actively boycott. I once bought a brand new Glock 26 for roughly $500. Fair deal. I added night sights to it, and decided it wasn't for me less than 2 weeks later. i go back to the SAME place, and ask how much for a trade/. He says $100! He would have taken the gun from me, put a tag on it for $500 or more, and that's it. How he can justify making $400 for 30 seconds of his time was beyond me. I told him flat out that he is a scumbag and lost my (and anyone else who asks me) business. This same guy once offered me twenty bucks for a Ruger SPNY because "nobody wanst revolvers anymore".

Bud's does big business and passes it on to their customers. They're my new gunshop. Well worth the $25 my lgs charges for a transfer.

I buy locally and I spread it round. Ammunition seems to be the same cost everywhere with Wal*Mart leading the pack.
The LGS/Range in the high rent district (Aim High New Albany) has best on price for bullets and are less costly than on-line + shipping. They're also the only Dillon dealer in central Ohio and carry a goodly stock of parts.
The big local who is the armorer for most of the LEO's around here (Vance's) has dirt cheap police trades and some incredible sales on occasion.
The tiny guy in Westerville (Aumiller) has the best collection of vintage and newer revolvers as well as a decent cup of coffee. His powder prices are within a buck or two of the others so I buy it there. They also sell trustworthy plinking reloads.
And I have bought guns from all three. I'm not willing to buy any firearm based on Internet photos. I have to examine it before putting my money down.

Seems to me that a lot of businesses have lost customers by their practices. All these places needed to do was keep prices resonable and not be so dang dirty. To me a good conversation and cup of coffee isn't worth me wasting my hard earned cash. I want good prices and HONEST service.

A LGS I know of has a sign out front that says, "if you can find a better price, buy it!"

I have.....a lot of times; oh, and thanks for the advice. :D

The local stores in my are have come down to reasonable levels on 9MM & 40 S&W but have ridiculous prices on .38 special, .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum ammo that never drop.

Some stores have lowered their primers to $22 to $28 per 1000 while others are still asking $40. Powder is $18 to $24 per LB at the good stores and $26 to $30 at the 'gougers'. Bullets are still in short supply and handgun brass is non-existent !If I want brass or more than 100 bullets at a clip, I have to hit the Internet and pay the shipping.

Yeah, .38 ammo has always been high. Not as high demand for it since PD's don't use them anymore. I buy a box every now and then from Walmart. $18 for 50 rounds. If I spread the pain it doesn't hurt so much.
