I had a Shield before and loved it but sold it as I needed money at the time and needed to keep my duty gun for Armed Security which was a Glock. Year later I bought my wife a Smith and Wesson 637 with laser grips. Well, just recently I traded my Glock for a M&P 9c. Nothing wrong with Glock as they are great guns but personally the M&P fits my hand better and I shoot it better and it's a great gun.
The only thing is it does have a little spongy trigger but nothing I can't get used to. It's a 2012 model.
Now I need a shield again. Lol

I have a 9c and love it. Recently purchased a XDM 9mm compact. The XDM is a nice gun but I keep going back to the 9c. I thought I was going to switch to the XDM platform, but now I think I didn't appreciate what I had with the M&P.:o

I also switched from the Shield to the XDS, both 9mm. I'm very happy with that change. The XDS just feels so much better in my hand than the Shield. I can also shoot the XDS much better than the Shield. If you like the feel of the 9c, I suggest you try an XDS before going for another Shield.

The XDS feels more like the 9c than the Shield. I'd give it a try.

You find the 9c trigger spongier than the Glock??

Personally, I've never felt a factory Glock trigger that was better than a 48 state M&P trigger. It's the main reason I've gotten out of Glocks.
In any case, it's easy to make a M&P trigger crisp as glass for short (or no) money. Lots of details here

My son likes Glocks while I prefer the M&P. He has a 26 and 19. I have a Shield and 40c. Both of the M&P triggers are better than either of the Glocks. To both of us, the Glock just feels mushy. He likes the reset of the Glock which is definitely much more crisp and very audible. I could really care less about the reset on any gun because I totally ignore it when shooting. The M&P feels much better in my hand and also looks much better. The Glock just ain't going to win a beauty contest, that's for sure!

Ultimately, I shoot the M&P better and to me that's what really matters.

The shield I had was a great crisp trigger. This one feels different as its a little spongier. Didn't they upgrade the newer ones? I heard people say they like the apex conversion. I'm going to just see if I can get used to it first.

They have upgrade the trigger in recent times. Exactly when escapes me as most of my M&P's are a few years old already. That said, My 2015 M&P45c has a very good (and crisp) trigger right out of the box. Not quite to Apex standards but considerably better than any factory Glock. That said, the Apex sear is the best $40 you could put into on of these if your picky about triggers as I am. You can also follow Dan Burwell's excellent online instructions and improve the trigger yourself for $0.

Life is too short for crappy triggers.
