SWS Brass Deflector is now available

Deflector working great!

I purchased your deflector a little over a month ago. Today I put it on my new 15-22 MOE (moved up from the Walmart version) and went to my shooting spot. Due to an enormous butterfly and horsefly problem I only had time to run the factory 25 rounder and 4 Promag 32 rounders down the pipe. I did slow fire as well as rapid fire and had ZERO FTF, FTE or any bounce back problems from the gun with the deflector in place.

Needless to say, I seriously love my MOE and being a lefty, I love the deflector. I know you are redesigning it to help some issues that have come up. I admire how you are listening to your customers and how you are taking care of us. You are a stand up guy and we appreciate it.

Just wanted to give some feedback on both the deflector as well as the guy who makes it. Well done!

Happy Fathers Day to All

are they not available anymore i went to the site, an when you try to click on the picture there is no link to place an order?

How about this... I will make a donation to the forum instead. Maybe everyone else in a situation like mine can do the same as well. If that would be acceptable to you.

It always a good idea to support the forum. I will leave the decision up to the customers who have the Gen 1 design on what they want to do. I do not want anyone to feel that I am trying to get them to pay for a replacement.

I just received my brass deflector in the mail and I am thrilled! I put over 100 rounds through my 15-22 and did not have any issues with jamming or rounds ejecting. All the brass fell neatly at my feet for easy pick up. I would recommend this to anyone who does not like having shells flying everywhere.

It is good to hear that the Gen 1 Brass Deflectors are working flawlessly for you. However if you do run into any issues please do not hesitate to let me know.

when it's the new desing going to be ready???

The Gen 1 design has been discontinued. I am working on several variations will have prototypes soon. I will have the new 25° and 45° mounts by the end of the week. I am finalizing another design that will work with the current picatinny mount. Once that is done, a small batch of 4 different shield designs will be made.

Again if anyone with the current design is having problems please send an email to [email protected]

Any chance we can see CADs of the 4 designs?

BTW I sent you an email llast week as I'm still having some bouncebacks. Really looking forward to trying a new design.

I will post up some images of what I am working on in a couple of days. The one I posted before is the 25° design.

I have received your email, sorry for the lack of communication on my end. This is the first chance I have had in the last few weeks to sit down and update everyone on what is happening with the brass deflectors. I have been swamped at my day job with a major project that just ended today and working on the redesigns for the brass deflectors.

No worries about the non-response. Do you need a volunteer to test?

Should I expect a response to the email I sent? I'm having casings bouncing back into the chamber.

Also, the coating is starting to wear off on the rifle side of the deflector

Not yet. As he said in his answer to me above he's tied up and what little free time he has is going toward the revisions.

Would someone please post up a link where these bad boys can be had??

I'd like to support a forum Vendor, too.

My pal lets me go out to his place in the Irish Hills and pop off rounds so I try to be as clean as possible.

Crawling around looking for casings in the woods is kinda a drag.

We put down a 10x10 tarp too, but there are plenty of casings flung beyond it.

This little item sounds as tho I could put it to some good use.

Right at the bottom of post number 276, four posts up from yours. :)

If you read the thread you'll find that sales have been halted while a redesign is in progress.

25° and 45° mounts... That means I will have to try both of them! That's okay, it's another reason to go shooting!

Thank you so much for all the hard work on the deflector. It seems as if I started this whole mess, and that was not my intent. I just didn't like casings bouncing back into the chamber, and was not sure if it was my rifle, or the deflector. So I posted here for help.

I do plan on trying both the 25° and 45° mounts if possible.

Time for an update.

Designs for the Brass Deflector shields were completed last week and submitted to the shop for a small production run of each design. Unfortunately the shop has a backlog of work to be done and it may take a few weeks to receive the prototype shields.

Prototype 25° and 45° mounts have been made and are in hand. The first two designs utilize the original picatinny mount.

Here are some pictures of the CAD models of the 4 different designs.

The is a simple redesign of the original shield. I changed the size and location of the cut outs.

This design will also use the original picatinny mount. In this one the shield is bent outwards from the upper receiver and the rear portion is blocked off. This one will be the most difficult for the shop to make and the prototypes may vary from this design.

This design angles the shield out at 25°.

As the shop keeps me updated with progress on the shields I will update this thread with that info.

If you need someone to prototype one of those shields, I'd be happy to!

I'm a lefty and use both standard and angled sights...so I could give it a run with the gun shot in more then one position.

Thanks for the update!

I like the angled designs and will probably try one of each to replace my original one.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I did throw some epoxy in the aft 3 slots on my original one and it did help. (not 100% tho) Thinking the angled ones may do the trick tho.

I know the last two require a new mount, but I am betting they will be the most successful, especially the 45 degree version. That's the angle of my ghetto version and it's failure proof ... so far.

I like the 25° and the 2nd option with the shield bent out, but agree with Majorlk that the 45° is likely the most reliable.

Looking forward to these becoming available.

New to the 15-22 and being a lefty it is annoying when the brass ejects across my face.

Funny how that never bothered me on any other AR platform.

This looks like the slickest answer to that.

I'll be ordering one when they are again available.

As a quick and dirty temporary solution, get a short 45 degree rail and put a section of rail ladder on it extending back over the receiver to the built-in (and useless) brass deflector. Works just fine.

Im down for a prototype test if you want. I usually run a few hundred rounds through the gun each trip to the range, at least a few magazines are mag dumps so what better test! :)

I'm ready for one. The new design looks like a good one.

I have some down time before we start cutting the hay, so I've been shooting quite a bit. I really miss my homemade deflector that I lost somewhere in the tall grass.:o

Glad to read that and thanks for the update. And the poor guy that was next to me at the range today will be happy too!! ;) No matter how we moved, he was still getting pelted.

Just checked my email and the prototype deflectors are being shipped out!!!

Once I have these in hand sometime next week I will be conducting some tests and then I will be sending out some PM's for testing.
