My Ruger RAP 9C was involved in a safety bulletin. Nothing had happened to mine yet, but I decided to go ahead and get it done... The problem that prompted the recall was peening to the barrel and slide, where they lock together, and possible slide crack near the extractor. This was only reported in guns with over 10,000 rounds fired! No risk to the shooter, until LONG after a crack appears. per Ruger. Also told that safe to shoot, and to watch for peening and/or crack, at which time it should be returned to Ruger.
I love my RAP 9c, and will be sending it in for the retrofit. To me, it is the most gorgeous carry pistol I have.
It's only negative attribute is it's weight, which turns positive when you shoot it!
It really is a great gun, and it alone is pushing me toward a Security 9, and/or an LCP II.
I already have quite a few Rugers, and what is a few more....... lol
I requested the mailer for retrofit on 10/23, was told that I was in a que, and a mailer was to be sent to me when my number came up. Got my mailer the Saturday the 27th, 4 days later. and will mail it to Ruger on Monday the 29th. Mailed at 11AM locally. I was told to expect 5-7 days for Ruger to repair, once they got possession!
Out for delivery to Ruger today, 10/31
Ruger received my slide on Wednesday, 10/31, late afternoon.
My slide was returned to me, in my mailbox, Saturday, 11/3, in the AM. Along with a note, replaced barrel, recoil spring and rod, and extractor.
Damn, that was fast - sure does set the bar high, for other gun manufacturers, regarding warrantee work! FIVE DAYS, from start to finish, about 1800 miles away! Damn! Just plain Damn!
