So I orderd a set of the grips for the shield. I lined them up before applying and I could already see something wasn't right.
I figured maybe its just my eye so I went ahead and applied it. I have applied graphics on cars and planes for years and have done grip tapes before so it wasnt user error. It's like it's lined up for the most part. But a one side is just off and too long. Here are pics. You can see the logo doesn't line up nor does the rear upper grip area on the right.

It's clearly just cut bad. Has anyone else seen this before with talon? I'm going to email them directly also.

Talon grips have always looked like a great thing to have, but I'm not that steady handed when it comes to applying stuff like that. Good luck, hope you get some answers from Talon

It's not so much about steady hand. If its cut right its really easy to apply.

That sucks. I think the instructions need to be more in depth as to how to apply them. I heated mine up one side at a time a stretched to line up with the contours and lines of the grip. It actually ends up as a perfect fit if you are able to do it properly. I didn't even need to trim the back portion. There was no overlapping.

I guess that you need to be happy with it since it is your firearm.

However, it really does not look bad to me. I mean, you are holding it to shoot it and that is what the grip is for. It covers well and looks good--to me. I would not worry about it.

If it bothers you I'd email the pics to Talon, doesn't it seem you have it lined correctly but then hole for the SW logo was cut wrong from the factory?

Makes me nervous I have a set of Talons coming and I have not decided how I'm going to trim the rear excess off, I'm not great with decals etc.

You may have STRETCHED the RUBBER TALON'S with heat and pulling.

I have the GRANULATED (skateboard paper) and they fit fine after figuring how they needed to be applied.

The instructions say not to pull the grip around but to place it on. The same thing happened to me until I followed the instructions. Not saying you did it wrong, but I did.

I thought I was the only one! I tried two pairs that didnt fit , and stick properly. I followed the directions to a T. Talon grips refunded my money.
Try Traction grips. I have had no problem with them. (and they are half the price)!

I have applied 3 Talon grips in rubber....1 on my Shield an xds and Glock for friends with no issues or overlapping....the instructions seemed pretty straight forward.....if you get one side started perfectly and just roll it around slowly....without stretching ......has worked for me....then heating up the newly installed grip and using your hand to conform it down good

I have applied 2 sets the same way. Stick on, lining everything up THEN heat and conform. No problems..no trimming.

First I used no heat until after they were installed. Second I did not stretch nor pull. I rolled exactly per the instructions. I also watched their youtube video prior to purchasing a set. As I stated before even placing on the gun I test fitted and could already see it was longer.
I never trimmed it, the rear didnt overlap. The left side is lined up 100%. Every part. The right side is just clearly not correct.
Its not about the look being an issue. The rear portion where it doesn't line up correctly with the groove inthe grip itself isn't sticking to anything because a groove is under it. So when I draw quickly from the holster its getting traction on my skin and rolling it.
I'm not knocking the product I just don't think this was cut correct. That's all.
The one time I actually tried to overall the logo holes it was so far off and had large gaps and bubbles. Wasn't even close to correct.

I'm sure they will refund you or send you out a new one. Did you email them? Or as stated in another post, tractiongrip are fantastic too and cheaper. I had them on my Beretta Nano.

I have the Talon grit grips on my shield and they were a perfect first time fit. The key is to warm the gun, apply the grip WITHOUT streching or warming the grip. Once you have the grip on, warm the grip and this settles and locks it to the gun. If the room is cold, and you need to warm the grip do it lying perfectly flat and very lightly warm it, overheat and it wont fit.

ANY HEAT you apply to the grip OFF THE GUN can deform it.

Do not stretch the grip ever, no tugging or pulling period and it will fit just fine. At least mine did.

Contact Talon. They are great folks and I have never known them to be anything but interested in taking the best care of their customers.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me!.. TWICE. The owner was not very receptive when I told him they where made improperly. But he did refund my money.
Like I said, try traction grips they are half the price and hold up better!
