A few years ago I bought a Taurus Millennium for my daughter. I decided to shoot it before I showed her how to shoot it.
It was good for exactly 1 shot! It would not chamber the next round. The firing pin jammed forward and blocked the next round. That was a good thing since it probably would have fired the next round since the pin was sticking out the front of the slide.
I took it back to the dealer and he gave me a credit on it. I bought a used Glock 26 from him and have not had any problems with it.
That experience made me decide to never buy a Taurus produce again.

I have the Taurus M608. It is a large frame 8 shot 4" ported barrel. Never had any issues. Shoots 158gr 357 with ease. It is my only Taurus and I doubt I will buy another one unless it is super cheap. It seems the large frame revolvers and the PT92 & PT99 guns seem to be solid performers but the rest are ****. I bet if Taurus were to move to the U.S., their quality would improve. They do have some nice looking guns but that is far as I would go: Here is a picture of the M608:

Taurus is already in the U.S. (Florida).
I bought a PT92 AFS 15 or so years ago, made in the Beretta Factory with Beretta tooling. One GREAT GUN that I'd stake my life on any and every day of the week. It has well over a few thousand rounds and never not once missed a beat. Love this Taurus. Also had a 5 shot Airweight Titanium revolver, hundreds of rounds, wonderful super accurate little gun. My daughter loved it so much it's hers today.
One more, 357 mag 6" barrel, stainless....super accurate, hundreds and hundreds of rounds, still as tight today as it was 20? years ago. ZERO issues ever.
I have NO reason to NOT be a Taurus fan. I dont have safe queens either, mine hit the range REGULARLY. I would buy another Taurus without question if it feels good to my hands.

I've owned several Taurus revolvers over the years and never had any trouble with any of them. Most of them I bought used, and subjected them to the same checkout I'd give a Smith & Wesson, or a Colt. Maybe that helps cull out the bad ones, I don't know. They've all been older ones I suppose, with the newest of them having been made in 1994, the oldest in the late 70's is about as close as I've been able to determine.
I've got two of them now, a Model 96, 22, and a Model 65, 357(more or less "copies" of the Model 17 and Model 13). I paid less than $300.00 OTD for each. I consider them to be good buys.

Had a PT 99 years ago shoot the **** out if it with no issues at all ran 100% sold it to fund another gun and had kicked myself.. Learned not to do that unless I hate the gun.. Now I just picked up a Taurua PT 1911. I know 1911's well and know what to check.. There are a lot of dogs that make it out of there factory bad CQ but if you know your dealer and check the gun over really well for fit and finish this is one gun that will do well.. It can out shoot most shooters and you can run it out of the box.. I would not buy most of what taurus puts out! The Beretta's full size and the 1911 copys they make can be very good guns!! Be carful and check them out well.. Georgre

Bashing Taurus is easy, Glock at least makes a quality product - might be ugly as a mud fence and as chunky as the reaaallllllyyyyy fat chick you went to school with, but a quality product none the less.
......and don't forget the French, we can always bash the French.

My dad has a Taurus 738 and has lots of jams even after I did a bit of work polishing and adjusting the mag lips. Got it down from a stovepipe every third round to maybe one per magazine. Might have to be a bit more aggressive with the adjustments but since I was relatively new to shooting and even newer to gunsmithing I didn't want to go too far without testing.

I've carried a Taurus 605 for years and I've shot it quite a bit. It's been an honest and reliable gun. I also have a PT92AF that has given me excellent service.
But they're both 1990s vintage and, from the stories I've heard about Taurus's QC issues, that makes a difference.

I never bash the French. I love their fries and their toast.
I've owned 3 Taurus revolvers, and been happy with them all. I don't own one now, but I haven't been turned off by them.
I actually just bought an older Rossi Model 971 .357 Mag, just because the price was right, and I knew I could flip it for double what I paid. But it locks up as tight as any of my Colts, and it's as accurate as my model 19, so I'm in no hurry to get rid of it.
So really, it's just a crapshoot!

Sounds like the extractor needs tuning sounds tight too me.. Don't adjust the factory mag lips.. Been there did that! First thing too look for with stove pipes.. tool it down a bit fit should be almost lose.. George

I'm not a taurus Fan.. There QC stinks so you have too check out the gun good.. Now they do have a few good gun that are copys and they are decent.. There PT 99 was a great gun ! Had one shot the heck out of it sold it some 20 years ago the the guy is still shooting it!! Also there PT 1911's are great if you check them out really good and know what your doing before you buy.. George

WHY BUY A CLONE/COPY
WHEN you can have the original? Guns are not the place to pinch penny's, especially for S/D. If all were the same price, would ANYONE buy a Taurus clone/copy, OR THE ORIGINAL. I came close to buying Taurus a few times, but I knew I really wanted S&W, & was willing to wait/scrimp/save until I could get what I really wanted. I've never regretted paying too much for a FINE gun, I've regretted OFTEN paying too little for junk I ended up replacing later.
