Tear Down of 3913

Is it just me or does tearing down of the 3913 have to permanently imprint your fingure from pushing the "slide stop pin" through the frame. I sent my 3913 to S&W and they adjusted the slide stop to gage and replaced the recoil guide. After getting it back from the factory I tried once again to tear it down but the pin just doesn't want to push through. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also is there something I may be missing? I'm following the directions from the owners manual but to no avail.

i have had some s&w there were hard to get the pin to push through, i would use the handle of a screwdriver to press it in a little then you can pull it out.

I use a short oak dowl in those situations.

My Kahr PM9 was like that. I went to Lowe's and bought a small nylon hammer to tap it out with - works like a charm. Kahr actually states in the manual to do this.

I used a wooden ice cream stick. Laying it across the pin and pushing it with two fingers.

Mine did loosen up a little after a couple of years.......and alot of rounds. I can push it out by hand now. Regards 18DAI

The back end of a bald point pin works for me.

I have a 5926 that is hard to push the pin through and all of the above suggestions work well. Oddly enough it is not a problem with my 3913, so there is no consistency as to which S&W models might have pins that are a little tight.

I use the heel of a magazine to get it flush and a corner of the floorplate to start it through the hole. Works like a charm for me, and requires no extra tools.

My experience is that if you compare the ones that push out easily with the ones that don't, you will find that the difference is caused by the shape of the depression in the pin. It is probably just sloppy manufacturing or quality control. Once you find the right tool to push it through, it stops being a problem.

I know it can be tough on my 6906...I have to use my left hand to push the pin while using my right hand to move the slide to just the right spot where it will move. With a little practice it isn't too tough anymore.

Holding the gun in my right hand, I turn the left side of the gun face up and push the pin with my left thumb nail. Also jiggle the slide when pressing if necessary. Also I use clp on the pin.
