Tell Me About the 16-4

You'll look back on this deal in years to come and smile! That is a price that is at least 50% of the guns worth, with box & tools. Deals like that do not come along very often, you have to strike while the irons hot (to use a very old phrase).
Excellent catch and a great investment.
Had to add this, about 10 years ago I walked into a small shop and the owner told me he had and 'old .44'. He brought out an 'S' prefix Model 29-2 with Cokes, asking price was $400. It was all I could do to get out of the store with it without breaking down, gun was at least 95% and later lettered as shipped on my 3rd birthday, Sep 20 1963.
Some things are meant to be, you stumbled into one of those, enjoy that catch and brag it up to future friends/relations.

The .32's are great fun, you will enjoy that one. And you got it for half price, even without the original combat grips.

Wow. One day I will stumble on a deal like that. 32's are fun. My little Ruger SS has become my favorite woods walking gun.

I went to the range today and put a few rounds through the gun. For a guy who's used to .357's and .44 mags., this one was a real pleasure - no recoil at all! Accuracy was outstanding. Looks like the p-dogs up at Iggy's are going to be in for a hammerin' once it warms up a bit more.

What a deal!

A friend came to my house in 1992 with a model 16-4 (6 in brl) and a 32 Bodyguard? (snub nose) both new in box -- He said I had to buy one of them as he could not go home with both. He had run across a gun shop going out of business and paid $150 each. I gave him his $150 back for the model 16. It stayed in my safe until about 2 years ago when my "new" wife wanted to shoot some thing different -- big mistake as she has now laid claim to it. (I had to hide all the ammo...) What a great shooter! This one of my most prized firearms!

Jay, you made the smokin deal of the century!! Take some pictures because we like pictures and welcome to the forum (and don't be cheap, buy some more ammo for your wife to shoot!!!)

Your friend probably had a model 632 Airweight like this one. Since this thread started I found a 6" 16-4 to go with my 4". As you say, these are great shooters, and easily my favorite centerfire revolvers.

If you handload try a 100 gr lead bullet 311008 or RCBS 98 swc over 4.0-4.4 gr Unique. You will be happy with those results.

You have indeed chosen wisely! Hope you get many years of pleasure from shooting it and perhaps developing handloads you like.

Dandy cartridge and the Cadillac of revolvers for it. Many of us would like to have your luck in finding such a specimen.

Regards,

Dyson

You need to buy it even if it's for resale. you already have an offer to buy so I will bow out but the list of people who would give you a profit is long.

For the past few years most of our spare time has been devoted to our local CAS club but one of these days I'm going to find the time to shoot my 32's more. They're really nice pistolas.
