The latest reports identify the three as French nationals, including two brothers born and raised in Paris. I don't think you can commit war crimes against your own country in your own country, no matter what your motives are. And handling a military weapon semi-professionally doesn't turn murder into combat, either.

yes, it is close to my home, 2 policemen have been killed to during the shootout; they were here to protect this very well knows satiric newspaper; there is up to now 12 dead people, a lot of wounded persons. The 2 or 3 killers have shouted islamic words before leaving the scene , said in short word that..." allah was avenged". Sad days for us.

No country has even come close to the problems the US has had with terrorists and likely never will. If France wants to secure it's country from terrorists attacks it needs to start profiling Islamist's like the US does. Please don't tell me we don't because the NSA, FBI and CIA does, regardless what Eric Holder says. I know, it's not PC but it wasn't the IRA that killed all those people in France. They know who did it.

The weird thing is that these days, the French are FAR more likely to do something appropriately over the top in response than we are.

Here we have a commander in chief who refuses to even call ISIS by their name. He insists on calling them ISIL. I suppose he doesn't want to anger them?

My final thought and comment on this thread is this.
These terrorists displayed all of the characteristics of unlawful combatants under the Geneva Accords. They are not affiliated with a recognized nation-state, they wore no uniforms or identifying garb, they are engaging in combat.

As such, they are not criminals, they are war criminals. They should be treated as such.

That wonderful phrase "terminate with extreme prejudice" springs to mind.

Islam suffers from the same problem that early Christianity did back in the 11th-16th centuries, a total intolerance of anything else. Look at the so-called conversions of many Pagan societies back then.

I was in Paris about two months ago. If you read the news, you'll see that they have (gun, and non gun related) terrorist attacks on a regular basis. Google it and you'll see that the terrorists drive cars into crowds, etc.

The French take this sort of thing very seriously in my opinion. For example; when I was in the Louvre, I saw a fire team of fully-camo'd French Marines/Commandos walking around in full battle-rattle. Notre Dame? Fire team. Metro (several different times/trains)? Fire team. Eiffel Tower? You get the picture. Everywhere. Day and night.

oh, OH, And like I was telling my wife; "...those are just the ones you SEE..."!
