This is a very strange event. This has been completely under reported by most major news outlets when you would think it would be all over the news.

This AFB is right around the corner from my Wife's school she teaches at as well. Something is definitely off when it goes by without much news coverage. I guess if he would have had an AR it would be more newsworthy.

What's going on here?

First Things First

First they have to ban the assault rifles, then they'll start on the propane tanks.

Still no coverage other then one or two places. I guess an attack on an active AFB isn't news. I don't normally wear a tinfoil hat but I'm thinking of getting one after this.

It would seem that it was pretty much a non-event, being perpetrated by what seems to be an incompetent primary actor that didnt achieve much other than his own demise in a poorly planned and poorly executed attack. I wonder if he was filming himself for the glory of it? Could be interesting to see, rather like the hilarious ISIS video* in an armored vehicle in Iraq where they all seemed poorly trained and incompetent and all ended up in their paradise after attacking a Kurdish position.

*Cant figure out how to embed a video link in text in an edit, so heres the link. (I wasnt trying to embed the actual video, just a link, not sure if i fixed that)

I am local too and it was on the local news twice. They are still investigating but they do know he intended to do harm so that in itself is an act of terrorism. I think because this happened in CA that puts additional pressure to not call it terrorism.

Well the backpack brigade had the spotlight. The RSO didn't get much airtime . You can't report on how many guns and CCW owners that save lives. They just believe guns are evil but don't know any better.

That is true. I only learned that the Parkland school officer got an award from a Facebook post. Didn't see it on the news at all which is a total shame. He is a hero and should get the airtime.

That is practically my back yard, (at least by C 117 standards ) , never heard a thing.

Can you remember when we didn't have 24/7 news?

I sure do.

Was there less mayhem then? I'm not sure.
I also remember that an event like this, terrorism on a CONUS base, would have been breaking news where they cut into the regular evening show whatever it was.

Notice the description as “possible attempted attack” in the link, or “possible act of terrorism,” I think it was, in the news video?

Guy busts through the security gate of a military base with a car full of propane and detonates the propane.

Ya think?

Wonder what those news guys are thinking..“Well, gee, it might have just been a guy who got lost on his way to a BBQ party and, stressed out by all the commotion, lit a cigarette to ease his nerves!”

Been checking morning news on different stations so far no mention. Seems like one side or the other would have something on it. Propaganda is all they put out it seems.
