Dan Patrick is against 2A and intentionally put poison pill in it to kill it, he must pay a price and his political future must be destroyed!

1. At this point an article dated April 24th is old news.

2. This is being widely discussed but nobody has been able to identify and find said "poison pill amendment". The entire legislation is online.

As far as I know we are still on track.

I met Dan Patrick several years ago when he brought his wife and their two sons (all Texas CHL holders) into my gun store/range on a Saturday evening to shoot...He was an unassuming man, asking for no special privileges because of who he is, he just wanted an enjoyable hour for his family...I didn't even know who he was until one of my employees recognized him; he presented his Texas ID's bearing his birth name (Dan Patrick was at first a professional name in his radio career, later legally changed to Dan Patrick)...

They bought ammo, asked about range safety rules, shot for an hour or so, paid and left...I haven't seen him since...I have no fear of 2A rights erosion while he holds office......Ben

Obviously, The OP has not been reading the other two threads and needs better sources... Like maybe, the Texas Legislature website?
Texas Legislature Online - 87(R) Actions for HB 1927

As of May 12th, the Bill passed the House, passed the Senate (with amendments), went back to the House (as it's supposed to), where the House did not accept the amendments (as expected) and now, they are setting up a House & Senate committee to iron out an agreement.

I lobby Texas State Government on agricultural, natural resource, and water issues and have been following Gun Owners of America, and others, efforts in Austin. GOA has done some great work on this.

Wednesday the Texas House, more specifically the author of HB1927, State Rep. Matt Schaefer, R-Tyler, rejected the amendments to the bill passed by the Texas Senate. He was cheered on the house floor for doing so. Thus HB 1927 goes to Conference Committee where compromise language can be worked out acceptable to both chambers.

There are two weeks left of this legislative session in Texas and that is plenty of time if conference gets to this PDQ, which given the support/pressure from firearm rights advocates, seems likely. The conferees from the House, three Republicans and two Democrats, all voted for the original HB 1927. The Senate conferees are: Republican Sens. Charles Schwertner, Brian Birdwell, Bryan Hughes, Dr. Donna Campbell and Brandon Creighton. All voted for HB 1927 on the Senate floor.

It all depends on how motivated conference is and how soon they can come to agreement and get the bill sent back to House and Senate. The process is "usually" a slam-dunk for bills coming out of conference as both chambers need only approve the modifications having already voted the bill out. There is, however, precious little time left.

HB 1927 provides that Texas still offer CHL permits for those desiring reciprocity with other states and jurisdictions where a permit from a resident's state is required. Permitting procedures would be similar to present processes.
