Thank you all for every thing. My sister is passing post 210

Yes, I'm also continuing to pray for your sister and family. I have no doubt what god can do. Of course I don't know his will. But I believe in prayer. I pray he guides the doctors and heals your sister and gives you all strength and faith.

They have done a complete cat scan, repeated blood test and liver biopsy and my nephew just got done meeting with my sisters trauma team.

What remains of the liver from her transplant is still viable and that remaining with it at her age and condition is the best path. The healing of the grafts has been slowed by swelling and everything being complicated by those factors. All her blood numbers are good except for her bilirubin and that is up to the liver.

The main thing is the Doctor said he does see recovery but it is going to take a long time.

Once again thank you all for you prayers thoughts and concern in her behalf.

Wow I am sorry to read about your sister’s condition. It is my understanding that the liver can regenerate itself. Did the Doctor talk about that happening?

Yes, as long as the main portion of the liver survives it can regenerate the portion that was removed. They actually do partial transplants but, my sister needed a complete liver and some of the main vessels to her liver were in bad shape so they had to do some surgeries to her vessels before the transplant, then several more revisions to those vessels during the transplant.

I appreciate all the prayers and concern for my sister. I know everyone of you did it selflessly because you great people.

As I posted in another thread I have a signed copy of No Second Winner by Bill Jordan, and had thought of giving it as a Karma to the group. I used a random number generator and the number of post i this thread and got

Thanks for the update steelslaver! As I was saying my prayers this morning I was thinking I needed to message you and check on your sister. Hope all continues to go well!

Here is where my sister is now

My nephew is meeting with the trama team on a weekly bases.

She is not as yellow and more alert more often. Her current liver is growing some, but despite trying to match it prior to the transplant it does not seem that it is actually very compatible with her. So she will probably be getting another live, also her kidneys have completely shut down, so when they do the liver transplant the will also add a kidney, hopefully from the same donor. The trauma team says that the odds of her making a recovery are around 2 out of 3.

Today they will be doing a procedure to install a drain tube to keep fluid from building up in the existing liver.
