Thanks to Hickok45, I now have my Model 66 - Range report update

Sorry, but what did Hicock45 have to do with it? (Sorry if I missed it.)

And I'd put the original grips back on it.

I am a Sig-Sauer P226 Guy, and a 1911 fan, yet, Revolvers are my new passion. Especially S&Ws.

Its almost like having a Light Saber, a more elegant weapon from a more civilized time.

But really the versatility they offer is what is key about them.

I LOVE your Star Wars analogy because its intuitively and 100% accurate! These old Smiths we love are a more elegant weapon crafted in an age when there was more pride of workmanship.

Well done. Now is the time to get the classic Smith you have always wanted...prices are higher than I like/remember but they are worth it. And it will never be as cheap as they used to be again...hate to say it. Buy now and enjoy; life is too short to go without.

Read the very first post. Always a great place to start.:)

Here's the first post, highlighted with every reference to Hickok45:

Thanks to Hickok45 I now have my Model 66. It's a no dash with the stainless rear sight and blade. It appears to have been fired very little as it only has a slight turn line. I watched it go through two auctions on GB with no bids hitting the reserve. On the third time it I saw listed I bit the bullet and met the reserve (ouch)! Got it home, cleaned it up and fell in love all over again! (What is it about the 66?) It doesn't have the original grips but came with Herrett's Model RK that feel REALLY good in the hand. I haven't shot it yet but plan to go the range in a couple of weeks. I believe it was manufactured fairly early as its serial number is 2K53989. If anyone can give a shipped date I would appreciate it, it would be nice to know.

So, to my question, what did Hickok45 have to do with it? Did he give you a heads up to the auction? Was he the seller? Does he recommend the early K frames? Model 66's in particular? Is there a specific video, or is he just an all around fan?

Check out his video on the Model 66. I was content with my Model 65's till he "opened my eyes" :D

Thanks w1984s. I did check out the video. I like all of his stuff. I had a model 66 that had the all stainless sights. Like an idiot, it is one of those guns that came and went. But I still have this one:

(Didn't need the video to sell me on the 66!)

Thanks again.
