Thanksgiving miracles! They do happen.

Sounds like a situation where children services could possibly be a more responsible care giver.

Although I despise bad parents, many times taking a child out of its home for anything other than the most drastic behavior isn't a good idea. I have seen the mess that comes along with a child being removed for simple parental irresponsibility. (I was also a volunteer fire fighter and clearly remember looking around in the weeds for a baby who had gone through a car window. Didn't make it) But, My wife is a child advocate attorney and the track record for children that end up in child protection isn't good. Society ends up paying a lot of money and 70+% of males end up in the prison system and the vast majority of females end up as welfare moms dealing with child protection enforcement. There is proof that making the parents attend parenting classes, home visits (a kind of parenting probation) is much more effective and cost efficient. That said, IMHO, there are parents who are not worth the cheap 22lr rattling around in their skull that would be required to fix them properly.

Lobo, Way to pay attention and handle the situation as best you could. glad it all working out OK for you and the real miracles is she did have insurance.

I'm just getting back to the forum after a really nice Thanksgiving with Gina's family and some of my cousins from out of state: holy smokes, Ray! I'm so glad you're okay! That's just horrific - but I'm so happy that the insurance is going to work out. Hope you're not too shaken up.

Man - thank God that didn't go the wrong way. Miracles, indeed!
