I stopped by my LGS and spotted two 617-6 revolvers. One 4" the other I assume 6"
They have use but are priced 599 and 625
I looked at the 4" one and it seemed to have an action job but the cylinder did not lock up as tight as I thought it should. Neither did the other one
The story I was given was a local used them in a in a 22 league and has plenty of use
I'm still looking for a deal!

I can't imagine how many rounds it would take to flog out a 617! I've run a no dash 4" hard for about 20 years now, 90%+ at warp speed DA and all that's wrong is one of the extractor star's locating pins is broken. Still tight, shoots as well or better than when it was just a pup.

The 10 shooter has taken a fair amount of the pounding lately and is doing fine. Except that I have a more difficult time counting to ten quickly....

It IS better for pushing over those 8" steel plates on the "tactical" range than the six shooter.

Define loose. Forward to back movement is endshake and easily taken care of. I think it would be impossible to stretch the frame on a K22. Rotational looseness. Are the locking bolt slots in the cylinder peened, showing raised metal on the back side? Same for the slot in the frame the bolt rises through? Rotational looseness is so subjective. Its always there to some degree (reason for forcing cone) and without some experience with new or low round count guns it is hard to accurately judge. I always look at the cylinder notches, the bolt itself and its frame slot for clues. I think it would be hard to wear out a K22 without some abuse. My model 18 has had unknown cartons of round through it, rode 10s of thousand miles in cars, boats and trucks and still shoots great.

When I got home I checked out my revolvers, a couple N frames and a couple Single Sixes
I was looking at rotational lockup. The K22s were no worse than any of my revolvers with the hammer back
I must have been trying too hard to not spend cash
