Not so fast there.
While a screwdriver may be $1.50, a SAT may be $150 or $1,500.

I've seen the prices on Ebay for a "SAT". The price is up there. I was fortunate to acquire a S&W "screwdriver" from RT44nut in a great trade.
Having a SAT and a screwdriver side by side I can hardly tell the difference. hmmm

You don't have to imagine, Joe...Here is my own safe with my own method of storage - silicone treated socks tagged with my own numbering system...A select few here have seen it for themselves and can testify to my madness......Ben

No offense to anyone, but I think the original premise is wrong, at least for serious collectors. Why wouldn't you want the original box and contents? And, if they aren't available, you look for period/model correct replacements. As long as they are not misrepresented if/when sold then where is the issue? If you are talking about flippers that put a package together and resell as all original then that is fraud and no one here condones that.

thats the point I was making...when "collectors" misrepresent a package as origonal when in fact its period correct...BIG difference

Always and consistently, no deviation ever...This also applies to anything else I look for anywhere...That premise will likely apply to my lifelong search for a good woman I can get along with...She'll probably be the nurse who pulls the sheet over my face on my deathbed......Ben

I have bought boxes for revolvers that didn’t come with them. I have zero intention of selling them as original. Period correct, yes. original, no.
I found that the hunt for boxes and accessories is just as enjoyable as the hunt for S&W revolvers.

I have all my guns in labeled plastic boxes in the safe except for the one I carry, which also lives in the safe but in its holster.

All the original pistol boxes are stacked in the humidity controlled safe because I don’t want the wear and tear associated with storing them with the pistol every time I want to pull that pistol out. The original boxes are a significant part of the pistol’s value and deserve to be protected. IMHO
