The forgotten .38 snubby...

i must admit the all steel k's are great. for me, the weight is the issue. i just carry 2 of the J's for roughly the same weight. if that's not enough, i call on my combat commander in .38 super... although, i do need to fill the K void in my collection!

I have a 3" Model 65 that is my current American Express ( I don't leave home without it) I'm still looking for the right 2" Model 10.

Since the barrel is the easiest part of a revolver to hide (the cylinder and the butt are much harder to conceal) I've never understood the appeal of a 2" K-frame. A 3" version of the same gun gives better ballistics, longer sight radius and a full length ejector rod and stroke.

Not trying to start an argument, just asking a legitimate question.

Dave––I always carry my 442 in my pants pocket inside a specially-modified DeSantis holster. I opened up the holster and then cut it away so that when I put it all back together I have a holster that does not cover the trigger. It's not a tight fit in the pocket at all, but I can reach into my pocket and get a good grip on the gun immediately without any diddling around looking for the trigger. This is probably unsafe, I know. I hereby promise to 'fess up here in the Forum if I ever blow part of my thigh away because of this modification. So…the reason for choosing the 2" is that it fits the pocket better––the back of the grips is already enough of a concern; keeping the thing completely hidden is sometimes hard to do.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1383498330.513801.jpg

This is my model 10-7 with Peruvian Government rollmark. I normally prefer to carry an airweight though.

I carry this 10-5 a lot!

This Model 37 isn't anything "special" (pun intended) but it's got a $h!t-ton of sentimental value. Ma gave it to me after dad died (he sold cars in the Detroit/metro area his entire life). When I went to have it registered, I half-jokingly told the gal behind the counter not to be too surprised if it came back stolen. SURPRISE! Long story short, it was stolen (not by dad, I'm sure - he was always buying swag from people dropping by the dealerships pawning stuff, especially when he was in Detroit) and after a lot of wrangling with the Detroit PD, the Michigan SP and the Gladwin County SD, I narrowly saved this little dude from the melting pot - by about 12 hours. I think of dad and chuckle every time I carry it.

Just picked up my first airweight snubby in 20 years on Halloween..a model 442. Now I see all these K frame beauties.....a new hunt begins..Really want a 3" Model 10, but a 2"10 or 64 RB would be sweet as well...

1952 Pre-10. The story given is it was carried by a Philly detective for years. Brought in for consignment at a local shop, by a son or grandson who had no interest in it. Honest carry wear. Very little use. Mechanically perfect. Feels "right" in my hands and I shoot it well fairly easily. Accurate at SD distances. The numbers matching grips were beat up from being carried, especially the right one, of course. They were taken off, put away and replaced with a more presentable correct set. One of my favorites.

You have convinced me

What a great thread. After reading it I went looking and now have a 10-3 3" Smith winging it's way to me. Pictures to follow in a few days.

During the summer I usually pocket carry a 642 but as the weather cools and I can belt carry more often I like to carry my 64-4 snubby I picked up at J&G a couple years ago. Mine has Pachmyers on it but I need to find a nice set of Magnas for it.
