The forgotten .38 snubby...

This is my model 10-7 with Peruvian Government rollmark. I normally prefer to carry an airweight though.

I carry this 10-5 a lot!

This Model 37 isn't anything "special" (pun intended) but it's got a $h!t-ton of sentimental value. Ma gave it to me after dad died (he sold cars in the Detroit/metro area his entire life). When I went to have it registered, I half-jokingly told the gal behind the counter not to be too surprised if it came back stolen. SURPRISE! Long story short, it was stolen (not by dad, I'm sure - he was always buying swag from people dropping by the dealerships pawning stuff, especially when he was in Detroit) and after a lot of wrangling with the Detroit PD, the Michigan SP and the Gladwin County SD, I narrowly saved this little dude from the melting pot - by about 12 hours. I think of dad and chuckle every time I carry it.

Just picked up my first airweight snubby in 20 years on Halloween..a model 442. Now I see all these K frame beauties.....a new hunt begins..Really want a 3" Model 10, but a 2"10 or 64 RB would be sweet as well...

1952 Pre-10. The story given is it was carried by a Philly detective for years. Brought in for consignment at a local shop, by a son or grandson who had no interest in it. Honest carry wear. Very little use. Mechanically perfect. Feels "right" in my hands and I shoot it well fairly easily. Accurate at SD distances. The numbers matching grips were beat up from being carried, especially the right one, of course. They were taken off, put away and replaced with a more presentable correct set. One of my favorites.

You have convinced me

What a great thread. After reading it I went looking and now have a 10-3 3" Smith winging it's way to me. Pictures to follow in a few days.

During the summer I usually pocket carry a 642 but as the weather cools and I can belt carry more often I like to carry my 64-4 snubby I picked up at J&G a couple years ago. Mine has Pachmyers on it but I need to find a nice set of Magnas for it.

My two favorite carry concealed revolvers are two inch snub-noses; one is a 1966 vintage Colt Cobra and the other is a Smith rb Model 12-2. I like the idea of having six rounds in a relatively light-weight, compact package.

Ok I sinned.......

No sin. This is what the phrase "YMMV" was created to cover. Each of our individual preferences, as expressed in what we choose to buy, will vary. I can appreciate a beautiful blue M29 but I will not buy one (unless the deal is ridiculously good) because I do not want one. But, if you do, then more power to you. Your choices, even if different from mine, do not diminish me in any way.

J.R. Weems––I like those smooth grips. How do you like the way they feel when you shoot that snubby? Are the grips available nowadays? I'm not at all sure that I'm responding to a specific picture; but the one I'm referring to is the stainless gun with the slider-thing on the rear that, I assume, would cock the gun for single-action firing.

When I carried concealed it was M36-1 (3" HB) IWB. If concealment was not an issue, 3" M66 with my badge clipped on the belt in front of it.

my 10-5 as it sits now.

Just found a pachmayer grip adapter and ordered it today. Still deciding on what magna grips to put with it. The hogue grip is comfy, just a bit large for concealed carry.

I like K-Frame snubs.

I have a nice little 10-5 2". I also have a 10-5 3" and a 10-5 4" to keep it company. Will eventually have both a 5" and 6" to round out my 10-5 collection/obsession.

Sorry about the pic quality. I'm definitely not one of the board's finer photographers.

Here's a K-Frame snubbie that I really enjoy carrying. It's a RB Model 64 DAO. It was just a corrections or security company gun that I bought online from J&G sales. I cleaned it all up and swapped out a set of old rubber grips for something a bit more appropriate for carry. It rides in a pancake holster and shoots like a champ.

I had always wanted a 2" M64. Some years back I traded into one. I recall at the time thinking: "2-inch barrels are for j-frames". I guess I just didn't love it as much as I thought I would. I traded it for a 3913 that I still have but have often thought about getting another. There are better guns out there for pocket carry (J's!) and other guns for me for belt carry (if I'm carrying IWB/OWB it's most likely an auto) but there's still something about a 2" K-frame that calls to me. This thread is like running that call through a microphone and amplifier!
