After removing the internal lock from a new Smith, you "plug" the whole on the side with a device called the Plug which is for sale right here on the Forum. It is more a matter of aesthetics than function, but the folks that have it seem to like it. Try using the search function, and I am sure you can find more.

I find it hard to choose just one. It depends on what I'm wearing and how much weight I feel like hauling around and if I feel like more shots or bigger boolits that day.

I sure wish Pachmayr would make N frame Compac Pros. They feel great on K/L frame guns, and with the multitude of RB N frames out there, they would sell a few. But they seem about as progressive as rain forest tribes.

Pretty close to ideal for me would be an N frame snubbie Airweight (alloy), round butt, 9 or 10 shot, .327 Magnum, sights like the Night Guard series, 3" or 3.5" barrel and blued (not black).

I too would love a set of N frame Compac Pros. I just got a set of the Compacs and they add too much trigger reach. Think I'll try a set of Ahrends.
prior to the release of the Night Guard series my vote would have gone to the 2" pug nosed N-frames
I also like adjustable sights and when the 45 caliber N-frames came out I grabbed 4 extra barrels with the intent of building a few with adjustable sights. Just have not got around to it yet.
The Night Guards are a GREAT value. Obviously Scandium framed revolvers are not intended for hours at the range. But they do carry easy and pack lots of punch.
I have a 310NG, 327NG and 357NG. The 310 (like my 610s) has been opened up to accept 10MM Magnum along with 10MM Auto or 40 S&W in the cylinder. This gives you a moon clip fed revolver with full Magnum power.

Tell me more about the 10mm Magnum.I am ignorantof this development. Have the 610 and the 310NG, plus a Kimber Auto and Glocks. Love the 10mm- the Mag interests me -(I can reload)

I've shot or handled almost all the Ns under 3.5" and the best balanced shooter has to be the 24/624 Combat Special.... I carried one the last two years with Dallas PD and had no problem qualifying with 100. With the round butt, shorter cylinder and slim barrel it just balances better than any other big bore...at least to me that is. I have a 657 3" and wish it had the slim barrel....
But when it comes to "lite" I think NE and ENH have hit it on the nose. The .45 ACP is a proven fight stopper without having to go to the higher velocities of lesser calibers and its consequences of more recoil and muzzle blast. In addition if ones needs the extra power one can run .45 Super from these guns. I've spoken with the techs at Buffalo Bore and lots of their customers are running Supers through their .45 S&W revolvers including the tech I spoke with. But one really doesn't need it as the +P .45s will work just as well....
Being a .41 Magnum shooter I bought one of the 357PD Airlites and had planned on buying a 357 Nightguard but other purchases kept getting in the way...then S&W discontinued them... The wholesaler my dealer uses had some left at $735.00 but I was still balking... Then last week I walked into a big shop in Connecticut and there on the shelf was a brand new one for....$599.99....and out the door it went....
The Paycmayer Compacts on the gun have come off and replaced with a set of newer flat style Combats, just ordered "The Plug" from Bullseye Smith to get rid of the IL, the trigger return spring will be replaced with a 13# and the hammer spur will be removed when the gun is apart....
S&W should offer an aftermarket spurless hammer for these guns....

I wish Crimson Trace would make a compact grip for the N frame! I've called them and they said they need more consumer interest...and BTW you can post on their site about interests...hint hint...

my vote. the 329ng.
By the way, if I am reading this correctly, C&S does offer installation of these on the old style revolvers with the squared off sight spring. You can't just order the parts, but if you send in your revolver, they will machine it to accept the sight: C&S Extreme Duty Fixed Rear Sight with Dovetail Front Sight Installed on OLD STYLE

I have tried over and over too. I like the way these feel but the point on the end is not good for CCW. I cut it off.
I'm partial to the 3.5" 27 with the 3" 24 as second favorite. I regret not buying a pre-lock 8-shot 627 2 5/8" when I was in college, though. Someday, I hope to have first-hand experience with it, too. If I had a 25 Jovino, I'm sure it would be high on my list, too.
I really like the weight of the steel in my 625-3 but I wish I could add the D&L rear sight to it.
I need to get off my butt and find a good holster for it.
Beautiful gun and grips! What kind of grips are they?
