Today my wife told me it was time to cook the 8 lb. breast that has been thawing inside the ice box for two days in its plastic "Air tight" wraper.

We discussed on what temperature and how long, for over thirty minutes, since Idid not want under cooked meat and she did not want, over cooked, dry meat !!

I wanted 350* at 2.66 hours but gave up and let her decide on the amount of cooking time.

The oven was set for 350* as everything was prepared for cooking
and the gravy pack in the packaged was saved for later use, with the "Drippings", for a super good meal.

5:30 pm was the time to peak at the turkey and...................

At this time I want to tell everyone that we are at or almost 80 years, young, for the two of us.
It is great to be able to live this long and enjoy life and friends.

However;
when the turkey has not been put into a oven that has been heating at 350* for almost three hours......................

Someone will say,

"We will being eating a little later, than normal".

I will have a glass of red wine and mellow, for a little longer. :D

Got to chuckle and enjoy these moments.

8" of snow outside..............

Ain't life great !

Excellent tale. We also now just cook turkey breasts as its just the 2 of us and Henry the Cat. He now will eat just about any meat we eat, he just finished his breakfast of chicken breast(old) and tuna also out of date for us, wolfed it up and is now snoozing.

Funny. A couple of years ago, for the first time since we've been married, we started doing Thanksgiving at our house with the daughters, their significant others and a close friend. I take charge of all the cooking on this day - I enjoy it. This past year everyone was gathered and visiting when about an hour ahead of table time I noticed the oven somehow had mysteriously shut itself off, oops :o. Anyway, a slight adjustment in dinner time and a couple of new bottles of red wine helped smooth things out and all was good.

I was laughing yesterday as I stuffed the 13 lb bird my wife cooked later. She bought it in November and threw it in the freezer.
