The M&P 15 The Good, the Bad & The Ugly

Didn't know that TC was making their barrels now. I have one of the very early T's that was assembled by Stag. Sent it back for a very serious issue. Ultimately S&W replaced the barrel. I spoke with the guy who was in charge of repair on the ARs back then. He told me that my new barrel was from a batch of barrels they had just got in from Mossburg, that were being used for a build of SWAT rifles for the Los Vegas PD. Funny thing, the new barrel has no caliber or twist rate markings on it at all-anywhere.

OK do we KNOW WHO makes the MP 15 or not. I keep hearing it is made by DPMS or Stag or CMMG
etc. Then they ( yes the infamous " they ") say
it is made in house now. I would just like to know who makes the gun. I have a MP 15 MOE on the way

as stated previously...s&w ar's are made in house now....

Here's the straight scoop on the M&P: guns are made in-house, with barrels made by TC (owned by S&W). I just returned from a Mass factory tour and watched production. After that, I used a new VTAC with an M68 CCO in the VTAC 1.5 3 day Carbine course in NC...2,000 rounds with no issues, with only the bolt oiled daily, before shooting. A superb rifle.

Thanks OIF2 that is what i wanted to know. Was there any word on the release of the PSX??

I contacted Smith about the born on date for my "X" model. It came to life on Feb 09 and it WAS definitely made in the Smith factory.

The only thing that I have found lacking on my rifle was an improperly staked gas key. Better check yours.

Edit:

I had Robb at Va Arms restake my BCG. He used a Moacks took and also replaced and properly torqued my screws.
