The most bizarre thing happened yesterday. My wife is still shaken.

Mercy! Wow, is that one of the creepiest things I've ever heard. At least your wife will know that will probably be the freakiest moment in her life.

I was walking around the block one day with my wife and a headless squirrel smacked the pavement no more than 10 feet from us. It would seem that a Cooper's Hawk had dropped his lunch from several hundred feet up. We were shocked, but at least the thing didn't hit us! :)

About 20 years ago I was driving down I 5 in my 1958 Studebaker pickup with the windows rolled down doing around 70 MPH. This was in the Sacramento Valley near Williams. I noticed a Great Blue Heron approaching from the east at about the height of my open window. I applied my brakes and he applied his air brakes and we just missed each other. It still gives me the heebe jeebes just thinking about what that big long beak of his would feel like sticking out of my temple.

It would have stung a bit. Maybe a lot. One night working at the hospital in New Orleans a boy and girl were brought into the emer. room. The girl was covered in blood and hysterical but otherwise uninjured. The boy didn't make it. They'd been driving along the lake front in a convertible. A sea gull had dipped down and hit him in the forehead and ruined him. Never saw anything like it before. Never want to ever again.

That would have rattled anybody!

Many years ago, I was driving a van down a country road (paved) about 60-65, windows down.
I saw some quail flush on my left and head straight across the road. I knew they'd make it, so I never let up. As I watched them pass in front, a straggler going full tilt trying to catch up hit me in the left temple.
Rather surprising........:D

That makes me have second thoughts about putting the top down on Wee Blackie

KEEP TRYING

YOU MAY be able to get one where the snake is still alive. OR as an alternative, leave the wife home & drive around with the MIL.

Where are the post from whacko's & Animals lovers.
Should be a slurry of post to ban, protect, keep from happening and demands for the head of your wife---much less you and your DL.
I am so dissapointed.!
Blessings

now if it happening while on a motorcycle 2-up......
There was a fatal incident involving a motorcyclist and a buzzard in this area about a year ago.

The buzzard was eating some road kill when the motorcycle rider came along and startled it. The buzzard flew right into the guy, causing him to lose control and crash into a tree.

Sadly... I would have exited the truck (moving or not) and left it with my wife and snake to work things out. Yup, I'm a real snake whimp.

Reminds me of the time in the early 70s. Four of us were driving down a country road in the Dominican Republic at dusk and a big fruit bat flew into the open window of our rented Fiat. It was flapping around inside, two or three of us hollered RABIES. Slammed on the brakes and everyone was bailing out as we screeched to a stop. and the bat flew away. We had a good laugh and quite a few ice cold Presidente's, the excellent local brew, after.

Yeh...no snake in my buzzard story...but I came driving over a little hill in western Oklahoma some years ago....a couple three buzzards were dining on a possum or something similar. Buzzards take flight but too late! My Dodge took a big buzzard right in the windshield...glass everywhere!...Guts and blood everywhere!!

The guy at the body-shop that replaced my windshield thought I had hit a deer...

The event could have had a bad ending for many reasons, so I'm happy to hear all is well. That said it is one of the best stories I have ever heard.
