A nice smallmouth bass which I caught earlier this week.

An Osceola Jenny that walked right up to Me about a week and a half ago.

MakeMyNight, why do say that is a smallmouth instead of largemouth?
Baseing my question on your picture (nice picture and nice fish

) on the point where the jaw ends, beyond the eyeline, and the overall coloration, and your location Florida, assumes you caught the fish in Florida?

Smallmouth

Largemouth

The mouth on the bass that I caught did not extend back past the eye. Also, the gills were striped as a smallmouth bass.

Smallmouth bass are a black bass too.

In Florida, We have Largemouth, Smallmouth, Kentucky spotted, and Hybrid bass.
The bass that I have shown does display characteristics of a couple species.

It may very well have been a Hybrid.

My maternal grandparents. Granddad just back from fighting the Kaiser. He suffered lung damage from mustard gas and was in his 50s when he lined up with all the other men in the small town where he lived on Dec. 8, 1941 to enlist. They said "Sam, you fought your war. Go home."

Yes, that is the Duluth Lift Bridge...a familiar sight for many years in the Duluth/Superior harbor area.
