The perfect candy bar is

I think I remember a candy bar sold in Wisconsin, perhaps elsewhere, in the early Fifties, called "Chicken Dinner" or something like that... Anyone else recall this confection? Feralmerril seems likeliest candidate.

jkc,

You are right. There was a "Chicken Dinner" bar. Never was available around here, but I remember seeing them. Maybe this will help the memory:

Also, here is a list of the long gone candies that some of you may remember:

in order of preference on candy bars...

Milky Way Dark Chocolate
Heath Bar
Clark Bar [when I can find them]

In general, I prefer dark to milk chocolate in desserts and candies.

Oh You guys !! Any candy bar is good coming out of my fanny pack when sitting on a ridge while hunting deer in Idaho. Many is the time it came out frozen. Sometimes a melted Hershey. Hard candy in a ziplock is better but hard on my choppers if frozen.LOL.

I vote
#1 Snickers
#2 Payday

When I was a kid visiting my Grandparents in Oregon we had one called "Mountain Bar" they were good also, but I don't think they are made any more, not available around here anyway. There are lots of bars here but no mountains.

I just like dark, bittersweet chocolate. As to bars, it doesn't make much difference. The darker the chocolate the better.

I do like Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey's Dark chocolate and Annabelle's Rock Road.

This is the perfect Candy Barr! Her real name was Juanita Dale Slusher but she went by the stage name of Candy Barr. She was a well known stripper in a Dallas club when I was a kid. She also gained notoriety for her association with Jack Ruby.

For her signature striptease, she would walk on stage wearing a full Annie Oakley buckskin get-up. By the time her five-minute routine was up, she would have stripped off everything but her panties, pasties, cowboy boots, white cowboy hat and the twin holsters slung low across her hips.

Just look at that pair.... of Smith's I mean!

I was going to make a post about wanting to try that Candy Barr but it's probably against the rules!

Try a dark chocolate Toblerone. Pure heaven!

One of the younger brothers, RG is diabetic. I have learned that you can in fact have TOO dark.
Once you get past about 65% Cocoa it gets awfully biiter and gritty.

Lot's of good dark chocalotte between 50% and that 65% mark though.

For generally available candy bars I used t prefer a Snickers but a few years a go the dentist fixed a tooth and capped a couple and I ended up with a hole between two of my teeth that simply fills up with fragments of nuts to the point of being excrutiatingly painfull!!

SWince then I have switched to Midnight (dark) Milkway, Idaho Spuds (of course) and Rocky Roads. Charlie, have you tried the mint flavored ones, frozen?? Very good.

Got to say Snickers Bar. You've got your chocolate, caramel, peanuts, and nuget all in one delectable piece.

Other than Snickers, give me the block of cholocate for the old "C" ration can that was so hard and old it was white and broke your teeth when you bit it. Everything else was so bad that the cholcolate and toilet paper were like God sends!

If I'm driving long distances and stop for gas at a convenience store, I like a Fastbreak and a diet caffeinated drink. Good to GO!!

At home it's a square of Hershey's Extra Dark. It's rich enough that one is all you need. Or two. Ok, maybe three.

1-clark bar
2-frozen peanut butter cup
3-frozen peppermint patti

I'm pretty sure a lot of the younger members won't remember it, but I used to love the "Zero" bar. It came in a bluish- green wrapper and it had a picture of a polar bear on it. It had white icing of some kind and the inside and a light colored inside. Used to get them, paydays (big ones) and butterfingers for a nickle. Coke too!
