The Rose Bowl

Man, I forgot all about the bowl games until they started announcing score on the 11:00 news.

Am I the only one who thinks this year's playoffs are a dumpster fire??? seems like the golden goose that is college football has just about consumed itself. This is nothing except the NFL without salary caps, free agency restrictions and tampering prohibitions. The public loves it because they can watch all the games on TV, but it is going to ruin the bowl games as the next round of playoff games will be bid out to the highest bidder regardless of historical football connections. So whoever owns Nike can bid enough to have a championship in Oregon, Or the Walton Family can have the championship in Bentonville AK. Hell, where was the Orange Bowl in the champion rotation? Bet your backside that the Cotton Bowl will b in there at Jerry world next time and the Sugar Bowl (which has been in the red for the past 10 years and is fast running out of reserves) will be on the outside looking in.
I am totally disgusted with it all. The seedings made no sense whatsoever. The 2, 3 and 4 seeds all lost. Georgia will probably loose due to the QB situation and It looks like it will be either Texas or Ohio State as the ultimate winna. They need to tweak the snot out of this

I used to love football, especially pro. But first it was all the political BS. Then DirecTV wasn't enough, you had to get this app and that app to watch certain games. Dropped DTV football, have learned to not care about the games that cost anything.

Now betting commercials every 30 seconds, OH but they are concerned if you have a betting problem.

Now college QBs drive Lamborghinis, switch schools every year and wear enough gold to slow them down. 50 meaningless bowl games instead of 5-6, but at least smaller schools and less known players, get a last chance at playing, so some good from them. But I believe this money flooding into the college system will be the ruin of it before long.

At least Woody Hayes wasn't on the sideline clotheslining a Duck's runner.

That made me laugh out loud. Old Woody who never made more than 50k as a coach was a wild man. He used to swear that the team up north was sending spies to the shoe. Those were the days big 2 and little 8.

I agree that the NIL is going to change the game forever, but as stated earlier some teams will get talent they may not have gotten in the past. I was torn on this subject, and I hate the idea of OSU making literally billions off the backs of college athletes, but I hate the idea of college athletes turning into narcissistic sociopaths like some of the professional players.

Caj is right on the seeding. They will end up with the top 12 ranked teams getting in. Then the top 4 will pick their opponents in an NCAA basketball type extravaganza. The teams in positions 5-8 will do the same. After all rank has to come with some privilege, right?

This whole profitability model forcing folks to buy apps etc. will blow up in their face like the baseball strike. Fans are only going to take so much before they just bail due to being priced out of the market.

I guess history does repeat itself. I am not surprised. We have high school teams in Ohio bringing in talent giving dad and mom jobs etc.

Progress........harumph

The stand-in quarterback for GA finished the game in great style. We'll see.
It's a team effort.

College football is now all about what teams have the richest donors to buy players and that probably includes about 15 or so teams with enough money to buy a National Championship. I wish all the other teams would break away from the NCAA and form their own amateur league similar to the way it use to be.

Berwick Bulldogs in PA had a reputation for recruiting players. Mom and Dad would get jobs at the Potato chip factory. Or the ribbon factory, or the railroad car manufacturer. One QB, Rob Powlus, made it to be a starter for ND. And the Bulldogs won multiple State championships.

And this was in the 80's and 90's.

It seems like every time a team was ranked #1 they lost, and it continues. Georgia thought beating Texas one more time was going to be fun. ND stopped that.

Here in Ohio, it is Cincinnati Moeller down in Rusty's territory and St. Ignatius in Cleveland. Both are Parochial schools.

I am glad that you all enjoyed the play offs.

I wanted to watch them also,
well I did, I guess,

but I did not understane it.

It seems that my service company, misunderstood our order for ESPN, when placed ?

When I finally turned all the games on, covered by ESPN;
I found out that the channel was being broadcast in Spanish.

A call to the company did not solve the problem.

I hope it works out for the "Big" games, after seeing them in person ?
