The Russians have gone in

Lots of talk about the bio weapons/research labs. Doesn't Russia already have a pile of chem/bio weapons already?

Yes, journalists are doing an
excellent job in reporting this
war.

Early on I mentioned Clarissa
Ward of CNN. For those who
may have already forgotten,
she stood up, face to face, to
the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Journalists around the world
face danger and death. Just
this year the drug cartels in
Mexico killed five of them.

Numerous journalists were
killed during the Vietnam
war because they were
right with the U.S. grunts
day in and day out.

Thanks Beemerguy and
Rusty for your postings.

Heart and soul

It works both ways. Being sent to kill unarmed civilians, while you have inadequate logistical support...and being in an army that abandons its dead on the battlefield...can't be good for morale.

No Russian conscript will ever fight as hard to take Ukraine as the Ukrainian people will fight to keep it...

Being re-supplied is like receiving mail from home when you're over seas. It picks you up and re-energizes your morale. Even in extremely bad circumstances all you really need is just one thing to look forward to. That can be as simple as a decent can of beans.

When the food starts crawling, it gets bad quickly. You can't help but be overwhelmed by the thought that you've been abandoned. That tends to happen on picket station on a tin can.

I saw a report from one of the Ukraine boxing champs that claims they have about 2 weeks of food left. If we want to support Ukraine? Make sure their supply lines don't get cut off. That's all I'm saying.

His USAF WWII bomber pilot Dad had DOR over the ship's Captain, the SP had the four of us wait to be piped aboard, then up to the bridge and other great places on that Carrier.

I was on the phone with him describing the funny parts of the 8mm/to VHS from our childhood as I was converting that to digital.
The Mrs came in and dragged me to the TV.
He had to go as it was 9/11/2001.

When we first learned to Box I asked him what was it like to get punched in the face by me with gloves on? A moment latter he answered my question. OUCH!!! :D

Blame Game

I see several reports on how Russia is sanctioning
their exports......that's funny.

I see reports now that China is accusing the USA
having Bio Chem Labs with the Ukraine's......that's
funny. I think China had better shut up, remember
Wuhan?

China is spreading propaganda, as are some American news outlets and various conspiracy theorist nutjobs.

Today I heard a reason
why the U.S. would prefer
that Ukraine not get more
MilG fighters from the West.

The U.S. advises that the
Ukrainians will be better
served and more easily
supplied with more
anti-armor weaponry and
better anti aircraft weaponry
beyond the current Stingers.
This tactic will inflict maximum
pain on the invaders.

The U.S. really doesn't want
to "widen" the war with
Ukrainian planes going into
Russia, giving Putin another
excuse that Russia is the
agrieved party being attacked
by Nazis.

Yes, this, and for something that really has no chance to be a game changer.

The MiG-29 is a 40-year-old design which the Russian air force itself is flying in only limited numbers, reportedly mostly in training as adversaries impersonating enemy F-16s. In the front-line units, the MiG has been replaced with larger, more capable fighters like the Su-27.

Russia has hundreds of those, even assuming that the state of maintenance of the air force likely reflects the same ineffectiveness as the performance of the other Russian forces. In contrast to all the manpads we've been giving the Ukrainians, the MiGs would give the quite capable Russian S-400 something to shoot down. And Poland is offering just 28 of them.

I did a little pruning…

Russian tank column heading to Kyiv ambushed in artillery attack, forcing it to turn around

National Post Wire Services, Mar 10, 2022
Ukrainian defence forces today attacked a column of armoured Russian T-72 tanks that were on the move west into Kyiv from the Brovary area, disabling a tank and an armoured vehicle and alarming others enough to force a turnaround.

The convoy of Russian tanks headed toward the capital was ambushed with precision artillery just as it passed through a small residential stretch of a paved four-lane road 25 kilometres from downtown Kyiv. Tanks can be seen erupting into black smoke upon being hit, while the tracks of one could be seen careering in an effort to maintain control. Muddy tracks show that some had entered the fields behind the houses, possibly in an effort to escape being hit.

Colonel Andrei Zakharov, commander of the tank regiment, was killed in the ambush, according to the Ukrainian defence ministry and intercepted Russian field radio chatter. The transmissions suggested the column suffered heavy losses...
BBC video here.

Also from a Guardian article:
Drone footage has emerged of a Ukrainian ambush on a Russian armoured column just outside Brovary, an eastern suburb of Kyiv.

The specialist open source investigator Bellingcat said it had geolocated the video, to a lightly inhabited area on the E95 road about 22 miles (35km) from the centre of Kyiv, a direct route to the east of the capital where Russian forces have been trying to mass.

The edited 45-second video, which was released by Ukraine's armed forces, is a montage of the fighting on the road and shows a company or more of Russian tanks and armoured vehicles coming under repeated attack. Its production quality means the fighting filmed may not have taken place on Thursday.

It is overlaid with an audio of what appears to be a Russian officer reporting an attack to his superiors. This is presented as an effective commentary on the fighting shown. It also said the regiment's commander was killed, named by Ukrainian media as Col Andrei Zakharov, although this could not be independently confirmed...
