The Russians have gone in

The chicoms have their hand in many places around the world. The old game. Like the gangster movies. "Shut up and pay me."

This thread could use some lightening up.

This may help. A couple Ukrainian girls I did a photoshoot with a few years ago. These are the only pics that won't get me dinged or worst.

Beemerguy,

Thanks for the WAPO article
which answered one of my
questions/puzzlements.

A week ago a drone recorded
a rocket attack on a Russian
tank/armored car column going
through a small village. The
drone showed some flashes that
indicated the rockets came from
close by.

My wonderment was where was the
Russian infantry to screen the column
and prevent such an ambush. The
answer it turns out the Russians
never did provide an infantry screen.

I heard today that the leaders of three NATO nations are now en route to Kyiv to stand with Zelensky and the thousands of Ukrainians that are still there in the midst of constant Russian bombardments.

That's a needed show of support and a real show of bravery. If the Russians kill or injure any of them, there will be absolute hell to pay.

This war is a continuous revelation. Basically, the dreaded Russian army, supposedly modernized and strengthened under Putin, is showing itself to be a failure at all levels. Who is in charge there? Given the way things are going, you wouldn't expect a Colin Powell and Norman Schwarzkopf-style performance for the world audience, but has anybody even seen any visible Russian military leadership? Do they have any?

That starts with tactical basics like infantry screens and air cover, and an apparent inability to integrate forces in any useful way. Instead of using artillery to prep and cover advances, they're randomly bombarding civilian areas. Anybody who's watched some WW II movies could do better.

It extends at the opposite end to an extremely confused strategic big picture, apparently lacking any kind of "Schwerpunkt" (Clausewitz' "center of focus" toward which the main force needs to be concentrated).

And a general piecemeal army can be taken on by the Ukrainians and disassembled piecemeal.

Here's info on the Wagner Group.

Wagner Group - Wikipedia

I read somewhere that the Syrians, unlike the Russian troops, are experienced at urban warfare.

What I wonder about is how the Russians/Wagner Group is going to get the money to pay the Syrian mercenaries.

Achmed the Syrian to the Wagner recruiter:

"So I'm going to trade my dry and reasonably warm desert for some time in a wet, Ukrainian late winter. Let me think about that a minute... "

Namely the Polish, Czech and
Slovenian prime ministers.

They represent one of Putin's
greatest frustrations, that
the former Warsaw Pact
nations did a 180 and now
face against Russia.

They are well aware that "If we don't hang together, we will hang separately". We should all be taking notes.
