The Russians have gone in

Expanded TV report about
Chernobyl and all the
detected radiation spread
where Russian soldiers
dug in or occupied the
buildings.

Now Putin can report Ukrainians
or the U.S. used nuclear
weapons to sicken his soldiers.

The Russian army seem to have left their collective brain in the Motherland.

The stupidity of Russian leaders -- both civilian and military -- would be comical if what they're doing weren't so evil.

Here's an analysis by the Washington Post on the major mistakes Putin and his myrmidons have made. I've gifted it to the Forum so you can read it...

Just a random quote from the article that caught my eye:

"Some newly drafted soldiers on the eastern front have been issued rifles first developed in the 19th century and out of production for decades, according to witnesses quoted in a Reuters report."

It appears the old Mosin-Nagant M1891 is looking at another tour of duty

PS: Found this exclusive photo providing a first glimpse of new Russian reserves headed for the front in Ukraine ...

I had forgotten the term myrmidon until you started using it here :)

Interesting etymology (Myrmecology being the study of ants.)

Wikipedia:
"... In Homer's Iliad, the Myrmidons are the soldiers commanded by Achilles. Their eponymous ancestor was Myrmidon, a king of Phthiotis who was a son of Zeus and "wide-ruling" Eurymedousa, a princess of Phthiotis. She was seduced by him in the form of an ant..."
(I really can't - and probably shouldn't - wrap my head around that last sentence )
"...The Myrmidons of Greek myth were known for their loyalty to their leaders, so that in pre-industrial Europe the word "myrmidon" carried many of the same connotations that "robot" does today. "Myrmidon" later came to mean "hired ruffian"...

We now return you to the analysis of critical world events.

If you have trouble imagining that, maybe ease into it by first doing a google-image search for "Leda and the Swan", another one of Zeus' animal escapades …. :D

LOL. If Zeus had a website or YouTube channel, it might have been interesting but perhaps not "family friendly"

Now if the result of Myrmidon's seduction was a daughter, the Romans might have called her "Formica", if I recall my Latin. ("formis" being Latin for ant.)

I think I know that ant. He is the subject of a really funny joke that I can't tell here. I can, however, tell the punchline: "Raise the drawbridge!"

Meanwhile, I believe the campaign
to end all campaigns is about to
begin.

By that I mean Russia is going to
throw everything it has into an
offensive in the east and south
of Ukraine.

Russia's newly assigned "butcher'
general" has been given the
task to smash everything, murder
every Ukrainian before him. His
reputation is on the line.

But yet, an offensive may come
sooner by the Ukrainians.
What offensive weapons they
have, I do not know. But I
believe those weapons have been
provided.

And Russian forces at the Russian
border will be struck. Their
"safe haven" will disappear.

The "butcher general" may be
ordered, forced to use chamical
weapons in retaliation.

And then NATO.....

Not surprisingly, it seems Putin shares some core traits with other autocrats and tyrants around the world. Extreme hubris, woeful ignorance, and surrounding oneself with yes men is never a recipe for success.

Interesting article here from the Washington Post...gifted to the Forum so you can read it. I have to admit I did laugh when it mentioned that the hunt is on in Russia for scapegoats...it would never occur to old Vlad that the man to blame is the one he sees in the mirror...
