yeah ... one little detail many seem to miss ... Hogg had a verified twitter account from day one. Usually these are reserved for celebs, politicians, press and official agencies.

- Draw a horizontal time line and mark a spot where a fictitious school shooting begins
- Add a mark where you feel a reasonable response time to keep kids safe
- Try to figure out how many ways you can provide a response that will fight off a perp with a gun
- How many answers do you come up with

It becomes pretty clear the only way to truly provide safety against a gunman is someone with a gun on the premises who can respond within seconds of a shooting. Nothing against law enforcement but they are minutes away and seconds are counting.

In the Florida shooting law enforcement arrived in 4 minutes from the time of the call. 6 people were shot in that time.

I still maintain that not much will come from this latest push. Think back to Sandy Hook. That was a much more fertile environment for gun control measures to pass...when we had an overtly anti-gun White House and a more evenly balanced Congress and Supreme Court. In the present, the balance is clearly tipped in gun owners favor...for a while at least. Again, IMHO...and I stress IMHO...there will be no significant legislation inspired by the Parkland shooting. What you are seeing now is a lot of smoke blowing by both sides. When the smoke clears, and it will because people have such short attention spans and memories these days, we'll still have the same old gun laws as before. And trust me... once the kids get out of school in May/June for Summer break...they sure as Hell won't be parading around the pavement holding picket signs and chanting anti-NRA slogans.

Don't be to sure. When Youtube, Facebook and more stores start dropping guns and putting policies in place in WRITING baring patrons from carrying weapons you might find your CCW does not do much because you can't go anywhere.

Some of the richest companies in the world and ones that build databases about your habits and beliefs are working against you and manipulating the young to politically oppose your beliefs.

I think the kids are being encouraged to do this. There is a a LOT of peer pressure and the next generation is being to taught and pressuerd to conform against gun rights.

There is a lot of talk around here on the walkout. It is being organized BY THE TEACHERS and packaged as a memorial to the victims. Without mention of political protest by the teachers. It may be different elsewhere, but it's not an organic movement here. In the long run I think it will have a detrimental effect on the organizers unstated goals.

One has to remember where these teachers come from. During the Viet Nam war deferments were give to those students who wanted to become teachers. So the war protesters became teachers and one has to wonder why the school kids of today are so messed up. My brother who went through the school system 15 years after I did came out a raving socialist and today still is.
