Just a little late to the party...
Here is my 19-3, 2K461XX, from around 1971. I bought it off Gunbroker and it came with Pachmayr Grippers. After getting cleaned up I changed them to Ahrends Retro Targets, and after a few range trip decided I needed the checkering and had to go back to the Grippers. I wish I knew which type of grips came with it; she looks awful nice with the goncalo alves targets from my 686...

Are the barrel and front sight all one piece or is the ramp pinned onto the base, which is a part of the barrel?

Haven't seen too many 6 inchers, but I presume they are still Combat Magnums. This Nickel 19-3 has TT, TH, Target Grips, Adj sights, etc. The serial # is K896195. It seems that S&W told me several years ago that it was manufactured in 1969, but my memory may be incorrect.

As new, in box, August 1956, Combat Magnum, AKA Pre-19.
And a scarce Nickel Pre-19...the flash makes the rosewood stock pop a bit more...not as dark as pictured in some:

That is SWEET! I long ago gave up trying to actually find one so I have one back at Smith being refinished in the 'pinto' style.

It looks as if it is staked into the ramp similar to a GI M1911. I haven't seen another one like this most I see are pinned. My 686 no-dash is one piece; a part of the barrel. I really need to get a letter for this 19.

Here it is. Brought it home today. Model 66 no dash serial number 2k74###. It seems to sport all the right stainless parts.
Some guys brag their gun has never been fired. This one has never been cleaned. The brown stuff is not rust, I hope it is coffee and not spitcup.

Oh wow, "original fowling!" That makes it much more valuable, kinda like original rust... I mean "patina" on the outside!
At least yours will clean out nicely. The upside was that you could truthfully say it had "never had a screw turned" on it, and be sure no one would doubt your word.

Well it does speak well about the durability, and reliability, of Smith's. Get a 1911 covered in 35+ years of crud and see if it works.
This is -E-X-A-C-T-L-Y- why I carry wheelies. I KNOW they will work.

Here is my 19-2. Six inch barrel, diamond targets. Serial number in the K709xxx, so probably from 1966-1967. This is one of my first S&W Revolvers. Well used but well taken care of. Very accurate, my son keeps trying to borrow it. I got it for the very fair price of about $260 plus tax. I bought it the same day I bought the Texas DPS 28-2 for $250 plus tax from a different store. 2003 by the way.
Here is a detail of the left stock panel. A previous owner did some woodwork, I guess either for speedloader clearance, or maybe his thumb felt better this way. Fairly well done actually.

It has no turn lines in the cylinder and very little wearing of the blueing.
It does, however, seem to have mismatching grips--perhaps not the original. One has a gold medallion and the other side a silver.
I am lacking a good date--the Pawn shop I got it from says 1976. I think this may be incorrect but I would appreciate someone confirming.
