The Ultimate Model 27 Thread!

This is as close as I am going to get!

Hello Itcnav
Never say Never... I never thought that I would Own a 3-1/2" barrel Length First year 1935, Registered Magnum myself, then the Tables turned in 2009 and I located one that I could afford. They are amazing gun's made in a time span where the level of Pride was at it's Height at S&W with an action as smooth as a Rolex.. Keep up the hunt, they are out there..;). Hammerdown

I think he just meant the ivory grips. Wish he'd told us about the holster. It looks like the old Safariland Model 29, but seems to be made by another firm.

Yes, I realize that Patton's holsters were the Border Patrol style from Myres.

Having carried large handguns for over 40 years, in many different holsters, the Safariland Model 29 style suits me the best.

And to keep close to this thread, I have had two M27s. One was a blue 3 1/2" that was converted to .44 Special and the second was a nickel 8 3/8" that I swapped on a 5" barrel.

Hello Muley Gil
Many Guy's are not aware of them but I have found that the S&W factory shoulder Holster rig's fit the gun's perfectly, do not seem to take the bluing off them, and are the most comfortable holster's I have ever worn. When worn they do not print and make drawing the weapon very easy. I have one for each frame being a -J-Frame rig to fit my daily carry Snub Model, a 6" K-frame model and a 6"-N-Frame model shown below. They can be bought reasonable on Flea-Bay or at gun shows. In the warm summer month's I carry my daily S&W snub barrel revolver in a leather Pocket rig made by David M. Bullard leather holster Product's of Azel, Texas they go right into a Jean's front pocket and allow the gun to be drawn leaving the holster still in your Pocket. Regards, Hammerdown

I'm thinking of putting together a right and left 6"/6 1/2" shoulder holsters rigs to carry two m28/m27 n frame revolvers in 357mag.??

bought this 27-2 in an online auction for 299 Euro, and found it to be a great shooter with tight lockup and perfect trigger. Ahrends Retro targes came from my stock of stocks... Prices in Germany are very low at the moment.

Here are a few of my 3.5 inchers. From the Reg Mag to the S Serial 27-2

Enjoy the pics and thanks for looking.

Reg Mag #379

Great thread and pics. Those ^^^ are great too - extra so . So I hate you :) ( kidding of course). I never thought too much about owning the Reg Mags but I have only had S&W a couple of years now.

I bought a light box but now I have to get set up and do some polishing and take some pictures .

Thanks to all of you for showing their 27s .

Some really great M-27s in this thread. Some of the nickeled are really stunning but I just prefer them blued. Johnny3 has my perfect collection of M-27s.

No pic's yet, as I just sent the certified check off this morning for my first 27- a dash 2 model from 1961... ! Anxious to receive it- have wanted one since I obtained my first S&W revolver- a '69 14-2, which showed me what owning a vintage S&W revolver was all about, then only a matter of time until I discovered model 27's- and HAD to have one!
No more plastic guns fer' me!
Wes
